I'm sure you're a very nice and lovely person in real life, but c'mon...

Wakey-wakey, eggs-n-bakey!

I'm with PivotTechno on this one. I have a few anecdotal stories.

First was somebody who helps to run(near the very top) Canadian Tire's various charities. They have had these specific cancer fund raising corps come to them, 'hey we have a network, and pipeline already in place, let us run your charity drive'. After looking at their presentation, and numbers (I have seen the actual booklet), the numbers were appalling. After looking into more of these groups, the numbers were always the same. Less then 10% actually goes to research.

Then, I've had a few friends actually doing cancer research in the lab, at different schools. The amount of money that was wasted, due to red tape, lack of planning, and lack stuff to research, was amazing. The story was pretty consistent, money was coming in, but they couldn't/didn't do anything with it.

Holy , people are such whiners..don't you have something more important to bitch about in your life..really?

:D

to those that are so upset that this does nothing for breast cancer...then GO OUT and do something..put your money where your mouth is, rather than whining about the lack of progression from behind your keyboard..

and that's commendable..there are a lot of people who bitch about things and never actually involve themselves in the potential solution..

people getting super upset over a viral marketing scheme that MAY not due any good but definitely doesn't do any harm is just silly...

Some people get upset about it, because of the bandwagon mentality that the rest of society jumps on. When you say you don't feel comfortable donating to certain charities (cancer runs for example), you get a certain type of treatment.

So in this case, we are not whining, but merely trying to educate that these rosy, feel good 'charity runs', are not what they appear to be. Which means, I am doing something constructive for society. Just like you feel you are doing something constructive by running.

I think you're missing the point, as usual, that people are irked by the fact that in the name of "breast cancer awareness", such a silly act was performed when it really does nothing for breast cancer or the donations involved.....ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS NOT BREAST CANCER MONTH.

Fair enough, you have your right to be irked. If I was to get annoyed at every single silly thing that went on around me, I would be in a fit of rage constantly.

I just don't see any negative intent in the whole thing so I choose not to get overly upset over it..

and YES, we know that you think i'm some colossal whiner...funnily enough, I've never tried to voice my "perceived" opinions of you. Thank God for you we're not friends in real life..how would you ever put up with my constant whining..:)

Brillant you say? I don't think so ...

This was a new form of a chain letter made by some stupid group of girls, all they wanted to do ... Was to see the impact it had and how fast it can spread. It was pure grade 5 childish games.

I'm 100% with you. I also referred to it to a chain letter type msg, when my roommate was asking me if i knew what it was about. The whole thing was LAME. I deleted it without hesitation every time it showed up in my inbox.

how are people missing the obvious? Your talking about breast cancer! Thats all they want, the simplest marketing strategy out there PUBLICITY. Its the best form of advertisement because its free and triggers action. Whether you donate or not, simply spreading the word is enough to help the cause. I'm sorry to everyone who misjudged this stunt but you fell victim to it. Corporate world > people.
