A quick question about external HDs

I JUST BUMPED AN OLD THREAD - MY ACTUAL QUESTION IS DOWN HERE
Is it bad to download torrents on them? My computer is begging me to run scandisk on the thing, even after I've just run it... and now it's even asked me to format it "before using it for the first time". I'm trying to clean it up a beat because I've got a whole library in there, but has this ever happened to anyone else?

shouldnt pose a problem at all.

Quite what I thought.

Hmm... is "Buffalo" a bad brand?

I use an external HDD connected through eSATA to my PC, on which torrents are constantly running. I never had a problem.

I want to say I've heard the name Buffalo for making routers and such, and that they were a very good brand. Not sure if it's the same company, but how many companies could possibly be named Buffalo?
Lira
I reckon it's the same. Is this their logo?

I love it how it says: "Internet, easier to use". Well, guess what, Buffalo people? I may have to re-download tens of thousands of files all thanks to you! :(

The brand is not too good and yet not too bad. I would look at some other company for an HDD though

My fiancée bought it for me as a present. Actually, I have to gaily admit that I cherish it more for the sentimental value (and how heartbroken she'd be if I told her it died) than for the files in it =/

The 2 main brands are Western Digital and Seagate
