I grew up like that, I'm still like that and, thanks to the electronic paraphernalia that has surrounded me since my childhood, I've able to develop my own individuality authentically due to lack of peer pressure, study loads of things I had always wanted to learn, and so on.
I'm still a friendly person, healthy, and I've just come back from the gym, where I exercise both my body and my mind, with a device that, though off-line, is loaded with content I downloaded from the internet.
As far as I know, the people really worried about it all are closed-minded romantics that dream of kids playing on the streets with kites and what have you. Well, them... they probably do need more lurvin' ;) |

Look at why people uses these devices. Almost all of it is communication. They are more social now than ever, face to face contact forms at school, and as you mentioned parents too.
The healthy food cop out thing: Seriously look at you're healthy meal in more depth. Literally everything is littered with hidden stuff you don't wanna eat. |
speak for yourself man.
where did i say anything about processed foods? you aren't going to give me a lecture on food, because you can't, i've worked in that industry.
whole foods have nothing hidden in them aka salad...unless we are talking about the apples with razorblades in them that IGK gives to kids on Halloween.
are you going to tell me that reading a label on packaged goods is too time consuming as well?
maybe in the uk buddy, but here everything has to be on the label or else it can not be sold. |

instead of buying a 13 year old an iphone, spend the money to enroll them in organized sports and help them build some character. |
But then they'll get made fun of for being the weird, poor kid who didn't have any super cool electronic devices. |

| good, maybe then they won't be coddled pussies that get everything that they want handed to them and can't even wipe their own asses by the time they become adults like so many kids i see. |

not having the time to prepare healthy foods is a cop out by lazy parents too. Making a salad takes less than 5 minutes. No one told the parents to buy chocolate bars instead of apples. |
I dont think anyone should be eating a salad that took less than 5 minutes to prepare...theres bound to be dirt and snails in it and if thats the case, i would rather take a cheeseburger than chew on dirt. |

| Well, it's going to happen anyways and continue happening, it's the job of the parents to either limit what their kids can do, or limit what they buy them. In my opinion, no kid still in high school has any real reason to own a smart phone. Something that can text and make calls should suit them perfectly. |

I'm not speaking for myself, all food is processed unless you are seriously into organics.
You're neglecting to factor in a shift in social structure too, single parent families struggle to find time and money to prepare healthy meals. Perhaps they lack education too?
We've all worked in "an industry", so quit the attitude. It's not needed. I wasn't trying to lecture just repeating facts. |

if it takes you an hour to wash lettuce, you are doing it wrong. |

Or they'll hijack their friend's iPhone and make a youtube video ranting about how they are just the same as the other kids (like the ginger boy in the other thread).
Personally, I'm with you. My idiot of a mother bought my little brother an iPhone when he was 10 years old. Why? Hell is I know. Now she can't understand why he throws epic fits when she doesn't buy him the latest model of something or another. |
