You're neglecting to factor in a shift in social structure too, single parent families struggle to find time and money to prepare healthy meals. Perhaps they lack education too?

We've all worked in "an industry", so quit the attitude. It's not needed. I wasn't trying to lecture just repeating facts.

if the law in the country i live requires every component of the product to be on the label to be allowed to be sold, what exactly is the hidden content in these foods?

ingredients lists and nutritional facts are law and not optional.

You know that show My Super Sweet 16? I have a feeling my brother will be on it (and if he isn't, then he SHOULD be).

No, you are correct. But you are wise to this, people see cereals and pasta sauces and even fruit juices and think it's good food. Food people are sly as , disguising things to look good. Even when they are not. In the u.k. companies get ed for misleading all the time.

Recently (unrelated to food) a company got roasted for putting cardon free on it's products, lending the impression that it was some how environmentally friendly. When in reality it's because no pure carbon was used as materials in its manufacture.

You are a switched on individual, but look around you, so many people aint.

There is a huge difference betwwen an hour and 5 minutes. Also you cant live on lettuce alone one needs variety in a salad and that takes preparation if you want it done properly. Ive seen how people prepare salads in a short tinme..just throw something in the bowl then try to disguise the poor taste by adding ridiculous amounts of dressing to it which beats the point completely.

i get what you are saying, but i still do not accept it as an excuse.

it takes 5 seconds to learn to avoid things that contain:

saturated fats
trans fats
hydrogenated anything
high fructose corn syrup
sugars
artificial anything
bleached wheats/flour

it also takes 5 minutes to learn what portion sizes mean in terms of the caloric intake of foods.

you would be amazed how effective using smaller plates, eating as a family (not in front of the tv), using smaller cutlery works to trick the brain into being full. People that eat slower stay thinner.

Being a parent is not supposed to be easy if you want good kids that don't have diabetes by the time they graduate high school.

i didn't say to do that though. There are many alternatives to making low fat dressings with things such as yogurt, and it takes less than 2 minutes without the need to be a culinary genius..

Yes. Absolutely. I never eat off big dinner plates anymore and haven't for years, I usually eat off smaller saucer plates. I can't eat off regular plates anymore, the food just sits there.

Never use dressings myself, i just go nuts with a huge variety of vegetables that compliment each other well and then use just a dash of oil and vinegar to complete it. No need for any fancy dressings.

which is awesome...but getting children to enjoy veggies sometimes takes a little effort.

If the parents have time use google to find their favourite bangbus scenes, they could find a healthy alternative that children would enjoy using the same method.
