Side room..back room, same . The point is, we need more of 'em! I always loved that about System. And the lounge at Boa. , so many sick nights down there. *sigh*

If you think Boa competed with System Soundbar then you must have not spent much time in Boa.

No comparison. They were after totally different audiences.

Best part about Boa!

Not having it = worst part about Sonic.

i didnt have a title such as "saint rj of boa redux" nor did i borrow them my equipment but i did spent quite a bit time there.

who were they after and who did they get were 2 totally different stories.

and wasnt that the time when there was a particularly nasty "war", so to say, between the holy trinity of toronto nighlife? one of the main reasons why sean miller wasnt able/allowed to open for lawler at the guv, some years ago? (i think his world tour).

i know for a fact that around 60-70% of breathe crowd would hit boa saturday night. loaded saturdays werent really up our sleeve, we were chasing that darker, edgier sound.

but i may be wrong, this is just my point of view.
boa
Boa was a time and a place which cannot and should not be replicated. Abode is something completely new. A new vision. A new concept. a radically different look. Same fantastic sound.....well actually better. Dark and edgy music?.....you better f@%*#g believe it !
Stay tuned !

hey, by no means would i even dream of telling you how to do your job. but i will chime in with my 2 cents so take this into consideration as a kind of consumer report.

and please keep in mind that this is just my point of view. i may be completely off but somehow i doubt thats the case.

the downfall of toronto's hardcore nightlife came down hard with those "new visions", "new concepts" and "radically different look". if people want flashy theres guv. if they wanna be seen, all preppy, chugging down bottles of vodka in a privacy of their booths theres til. something new, unusual, superawesome - circa. and so on. the only 2 clubs kinda ok are mod and footwork but the also lack something. i know, "ohmigod 1999 was soooo much better" blah blah sounds douche-y but sometimes you gotta take a step or 2 before making that giant leap forward. remember boa?? system?? element?? roxi blue?? they all had 2 things in common that none of these new clubs have. they were pretty much stripped down to basics and they had second, smaller room. and that second room was a key to their success. simply, they were giving people a choice. i was a huge house/tribal head until i wondered in the system's back room, the best mistake of my life!! diversity in music (in one night) will always bring people back. give them a chance to try out something new if the headliner sucks ass thats night.

lets put all that aside, how many rooms, how many lasers how many blah blah blah. we come to your clubs for the music, and thats a fact!!! we spend our hard earned money in your clubs primarily for the music and that the most important part of your equation because, after all, its all about money. i'll break it down how i see it:
1. i will always push breaks, no matter what. i know its not gonna happen but i gotta put it up first.
2. as much as i hate to say this, and i hope it doesnt turn out that way, trance. trance will fill up your place to its capacity night after night. but trance lovers wont spend as much money on drinks as househeads of breaks fiends. so unless you have a 2-3.000 capacity and a douchebag policy that you cannot refill your bottle in a washroom... well you wont flop but you wouldn't maximize your profits either. plus, and i'm willing to bet my last cent on this, guv would then have bi-weekly trance event at kh and that would completely you up
3. you could do electro/tech/wheteverthe is this crap everybody plays now but those places are dime a dozen nowadays and they all have a strong following. how successful would you be in "stealing" those customers? plus, it would be just another club, nothing special about that.
4. house/prog nights, HEAVILY infused with tribal is your safest bet. sprinkle something completely different in that back room i was talking about(hint breaks hint) and you'll have all heads under one roof.

7 a.m !!! i dont know why almost all clubs close at 5 now, is it a law or what? from my perspective, if im coming to your club to giv'er i'd much rather have an option to stay longer. reasons? we all have our reasons lol.

price is another subject that i dont know much about but i'd rather pay a bit extra for a night of awesomness than a regular cover for a night of "great but it could be better". hint i'd pay hard cash to hear DOC MARTIN again.

so it all comes down to that, if you wanna give us something new you will have to give us something old. thats the way i see it.

like i said, i mean no disrespect with this post, just my opinion on what would work.

good luck !!!!

Abode - nightlife in a place I'll probably avoid, unless you bring in some good DJs, on a regular basis.

They will have no choice but to bring in the top talent with the bookings FW and Cobra are bringing in these days.. Guv will hopefully have no choice but to start changing up the names on the bill and actually earn the right for being a super club and make good use of that space while it lasts...
