What do you believe?

This is kinda religious.... I just wanna find out different ways people express faith, or lack therof.
I'll go first.
Agnostic. I believe that there is no way of knowing if there is or is not a god(dess), an afterlife, a diety, a collection of powerful beings waiting to feed me grapes.... etc until after I die.
But I'm open minded enough to entertain the idea.
I think religion serves a purpose of explaining what science can't quite yet and of helping provide people with a community and bonds and feelings of fitting in. And that's cool. I think that societies will eventually evolve beyond the need for this social institution, and that's cool too.
As long as you don't tell me how I should feel or what I should believe, we're cool.

meh, so do football teams, music…virtually any interest you care to mention. And none of those things get special treatment and respect within society.

I believe in people. That is, rather than waste my time thinking about deities, I focus my attention on the people I share the planet with. They matter, empty ideas don't.
Do I believe in a God that satisfies? Do I believe in a God that opens eyes? Do I believe in a God that tells me lies, or do I believe in you?
Do I believe in a God that brings me down? Do I believe in a God that wears a crown? Do I believe in a God that makes me bow... or do I believe in you?

I live by a few simple principles
1. You can't change the past, so don't worry about it.
2. carpe diem
3. r.i.p.
4. Do what you feel is right and follow your heart.
5. There is no wrong, only better options.
Life will be what it is, you only know what you know.
That is basically what gives me faith. As far as some invisible omnipotent or omnipresent force, I ascribe that to life itself more or less, reality is a whole, and there are many gods in that whole, but we should try to respect and take into reference each and every god. If god didn't want other gods why did it make them? |
