Why don't classics like Flaming June ever see a digital release?

Wouldn't they make money simply sticking them on iTunes / Beatport etc? Are their licensing restrictions preventing this?

Should I just give in and buy a physical copy for $20?

Because Perfecto (it's label) has chose not to go digital (yet).

If it's the BT & PvD remix you're ever, then you could get Paul van Dyk - Perspective - A Collection Of Remixes 1992-1997 for example for 9 euros on Discogs. That way, you get more out of your money..

Hmmm I never knew that... thats pretty odd they are not digital.... doesn't oakie want more money? lol

Im after the chicane remix also, but I still am lacking in PvD's classics so I may pick this up too.

i'm not 100% sure about this but i think perfecto has to unwind a lot of red tape in order to get a lot of their back catalogue up.

What does that mean?

it's because back when perfecto was completely under warner records reign, they had the publishing and all that jazz. and when oakenfold split from warner in '97/98 he signed onto mushroom and then he split from them in 2003. and what that means is that the publishing is owned by those labels. so in order to get flaming june online, oakenfold has to clear everything with warner. if he wants to put say mach 747 - invading privately, he he has to clear everything with mushroom record.

Damn.... that sucks. Does that mean Warner could release it?

lots of stuff that you can't buy as download you can get old cd singles off ebay for a pound or two. some promo stuff you can get that way too.

If you don't have the old singles on Perfecto/Warner, getting hold of the physical copies is the way to go, for now.. but all the different Flaming June cd releases with Chicane remix I've gone through, feature an annoying mastering error tho, lowering the volume dramatically just at the peak moment of the track resulting in losing all the energy and ruining the whole thing. Oddly it appears to be only on cd as the 12" release doesn't seem to have that same error.

And for Warner releasing their backcatalogue for trance.. I doubt old trance is their first priority with all the much better selling material in their globalwide catalogue.

Anjunadeep have a remake of it coming out soon. Maybe part of that release will include the originals?
