Not really. A lot of people who were beaten as a child end up beating their significant others when they're older b/c they think it's okay.
you have a link for that study?

i can't believe that people believe that beating your children is the answer..
i doubt it that anybody here is talking about abuse/dropkicking/ punching in the face and so on.
i personally think that footing around your kids, giving them a "time out", canceling their games and so on is much, much worse than a good ol' spanking.
i dont know is this real but...wow(no pun intended).

OMG that story is horrible. There is no excuse for killing anyone. But I'm thinking that something terribly wrong was going on in this kid's life to make him do this. Possible abuse from the parents?

I agree...I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this child was being abused by one or both his parents.

There has been a lot of research on this; however, without much consensus. The American College of Pediatricians, for instance, approves of 'spanking your kids' and in some studies even suggests that a healthy dose of physical discipline is necessary for a child's development. On the other hand, The Canadian Paediatric Society, disagrees. So anyone looking for a conclusive solution is wasting their time.
In a recent article by the post called "A good spanking," the writer concluded that:
"No study will ever conclusively prove normative spanking's beneficial or deleterious effects one way or the other, so reflexive judgmentalism is unfair: Parents must sort it out for themselves, and we should all just leave it at "different strokes" -- or not -- "for different folks."
That's pretty much how I feel. I do, in any case, appreciate all the beatings I received while growing up--but beyond my own family, I could not care less about how parents choose to discipline their kids. It's their problem, not mine.

^ yeah different strokes for different folks, however back at home noone would get arrested and lose custody of their kids for spanking them - isn't absolutely not allowed here? if you kid comes to school and tells his/her teacher that his Mommy has hit him/her (and it could be a simple spank on the ass), you're in big trouble!
