Beatport track tagging

Im not talking about genre even... why the hell is beatport so lacking when it comes to track tagging? For example, track number in a release is not in the mp3's they give you. Instead of putting the mix name in parentheses, they put it after a dash. Another thing, why don't they include BPM tagging where applicable? It would be really nice to be able to search a certain range of BPMs to help narrow down the type of tracks you want to hear... and BPM is not something a label can up on, like the ty genre tagging...
You would think they would offer more at 2.50 a track  |

So that when you're going through the Techno section you don't have to mess around with the 140+ stuff if your looking for tracks in the 120-130 range. |

So BPM is a large factor for you when deciding what tune to play next, instead of the actual musical content?
BPM should never be an issue. |

BPM is a big factor if you're a DJ. If i'm in the 120's will i play a 140 track after? no.
Also, I prefer tracks in the 120's. Sometimes below and sometimes above but i pretty much never enjoy tracks in the 140's because that's just too fast for me.
So yeah i would use a bpm filter if it was available especially in catagories such as techno because it has a wider bpm range than something like deep house |

-8? the pitch fader goes below zero. i used stick in the 130's back in my full on trance days, but had a killer tune @ 148 that i have to play at -6 or -7 in order to fit. it's a monster, so I don't worry about tempo.
+1 on the tempo doesn't matter. listen to it before you buy it, you should know it's too fast when you hear it. |

Their will always be exceptions. However, some days I don't feel like going through the techno section and going from 120 to 140 to 120 etc. Also, BPM does provide some indication of the content of the track. Theirs a reason why a producer would make a track at 120 vs. 140. This is basically why I generally stick to the 110's and 120's and sometimes 130's. I don't think i've liked a 140+ track in years.
Also most of the time changing the tempo of a track by 20 bpm sounds weird not to mention artifacts generated by the software that changes the tempo. |

| It would just be handy to know up front I guess, and saves you having to do it after.. |

Well that's your subjective opinion and if you want to put restrictions on your DJ'ing, then that's your choice.
Myself on the other hand, I regularly drop drum and bass tracks in my sets and there are countless other DJ's who do the same.
Is BPM a 'big factor' in these situations? No. |

But for people who do not have a huge collection of a genre, it would be nice to find tracks to a fill a gap so one can at least beatmatch groups of tracks together instead of using other methods, which I personally find annoying when used too many times. |
