You need to re evaluate your life :stongue:
That gay ass armin dash berlin oceanlab JOC mystical unicorn candy land vocal has got to go. The only reason it is so popular right now is all the people being brainwashed by ASOT....
ffs I can't enjoy that unless I am completely blown up lol, music should be enjoyable sober....

Must plan pregame. Did Tim move to a loft in downtown or something?

Then you should probably sit this one out.
Honey, I reevaluated my life 3 years ago. I found out how to open my mind and accept many things, including the differences in music. You should do the same. You'll find so much more energy when you figure out that you don't have to hate on other's interests. ;)

What does that have to do with this convo?
I'm sober 95% of the time while listening to it.

Yeah, but his recent GDJB sets have given me some hope.... It just annoys me that 5 or so years ago his style was so much more unique and interesting than it is today. Today hes not nearly as bad as some other DJ's (Armin, JOC, Above & Beyond, etc), thats why I am going to see him.
And the reason I say what I say about not being able to enjoy it sober, its more about the trance tracks played these days with long vocal segments with no beats, huge long buildups in which you can't dance (unless of course your reaching for the lasers). Most of the time the people I meet at the events who go for the modern uplifting style of music are not anywhere near sober.
Don't get me wrong, I love some generic uplifting/vocal trance, its just when its played track after track after track it gets boring. Thats why these days I will take any sort of house over trance no questions asked. Steady beats, steady dancing. I don't mind the same continuous structure of house track after track because it doesn't have the long undanceable segments of modern trance.
I don't mean to hate on you, its just im tired of the same old same old in the trance scene and the lack of originality with most of the big dj's playing the exact same tracks as the rest.

intoxicated people like modern uplifting trance? really? Any raved-out afterhours club I went to that has no one sober was always happy hardcore, jumping rave music. It's actually the ones under influence like to keep moving over and over and over, without pauses.
And I remember a headliner coming in one time, he asks me "what kind of crowd is this? are they drinking or on pills?" I told him they are most likely on pills. Guess what his set was like? Absolutely a harder set, maybe 2 vocals and I never heard a breakdown. So I'd have to disagree with you on that observation.
I find a solid beat all night long, never changing, to be quite boring. I need changes throughout the night. I want that roller coaster feel, and trance delivers. I don't see how someone can see music boring that changes every 5 minutes, twists and turns. But I'm not going to judge anyone about it. It's the only place I can dance around and have an emotional experience within the same hour.
I love GDJB, but I find it a lot like ASOT. His GDJB world tours shows are a lot harder. I guess you hadn't heard ASOT live shows, have you? They are like GDJB world tours. Last week was funny. GDJB and ASOT played many of the same tracks within that same day. So your hatred for ASOT and love for GDJB confuses me. Not trying to change your mind, really. But just odd to me.

I havn't listened to ASOT for a while, but I find Schulz generally plays more houseish tracks than Armin and I thought his sound was significantly different. Maybe this is no longer true?. And you are right, I have never heard an ASOT live show. Maybe I just am biased against Armin in a personal way since he is the face behind Armada music, my arch nemesis :D (And yes, I know Coldharbour is under Armada). The GDJB sets I heard recently did have some vocals, but had many steady uplifting progish house tracks in the beginning, which I love.
I don't like a steady beat the entire night, nor do I like too many pauses. I feel modern DJ's are to one way or the other. But I do see your point. I like a variety in a set (though I would take all constant beats over all songs with long pauses anyday)
There isn't any HHC in houston going on even at most raves that I know about, so usually I see the pilled out people at uplifting trance events.

but you see that if you had avoided Armada this whole time, you would have never known Markus before ColdHarbour, right? I mean, Markus was under Armada for many years. ColdHarbour is just a very recent thing. AvB gave Markus his big start, gave him the boost. It's weird to appreciate one without appreciating the other.
And how is Armada a personal thing? Did Armada personally hurt you in someway? lol

Ehhh I don't even know I just don't like almost everything released on it or its child labels in the past few years.
Heres a great release on Armada in 2004 for example (its an amazing track even though it has long ambient portions, great set opener. Its these type of entrancing tracks I miss):
