Greetings TA Producers, a quick introduction..

Howdy, just wanted to introduce myself to you guys since i've been reading through some of the production threads recently and i like the knowledge and idea's that are being thrown around, plus the general attitude around here seems pretty nice so i thought i should become a part of it!

I'm 29 & reside in south australia, my setup is a dual screen Core i7 DAW running Cubase 5, a pair of Mackie MR8 monitors, a Virus TI full keyboard, a Motu 828 mk3 sound interface & a Roland TD9 e-drum kit. It has taken many years of research and financial commitment to end up with this little studio but i'm finally feeling like i'm not overly bound or restricted by hardware, just experience!

Obviousy my main passion for producing is Trance or i wouldn't be here, but i don't mind having a crack at other styles like liquid DnB etc.

I'm currently at a stage where i think i've got a good creative grounding for writing tunes, and a reasonable grasp of the technical side of things but i'm really looking to push my track engineering skills into the realms of the professional and thats partly why i've been on here lately hunting through the resources.

So hopefully i can get to know a few like minded people on here and share some idea's around. I'll post up some of my recent tunes shortly and see if i can glean some other people's insight into which area's i need to work on the most.

Cheers!

Welcome, nice setup! :)

You have a soundcloud or something you would like to post? Some critique might be helpful to you. You're lucky to have a setup like that!

hehe thanks, i have just been committing all my available money to studio gear for the last couple of years and slowly adding to it bit by bit. The Virus and Motu were second hand also which helped, but in perfect condition luckily.

I haven't used the drum kit in many productions since it's sounds are mostly acoustic, and i had to learn to play first! lol I mainly jam along to bassdrive which is great fun & excellent practice, but the plan is there to hook it up and try to improve my drum grooves by using live ones instead of programmed. Programmed drum grooves are still the trickiest block to getting a track underway in my book. I can get adequate drum tracks going but that is primarily the area i want to improve on.

I am looking at setting up a soundcloud type account to host my tunes but currently they are on personal webspace so before i share them i want to get a more anonymous / convenient method sorted, hopefully this week.

Welcome to TA!

sounds like you've got a nice setup there and you've come to the right place for production/EDM discussion! There's a lot of engineers here and some of the tech chats you'll find on here will be unique as many of us on here have very different skills and knowledge.

One more thing. Have a sense of humor, and grow a thich skin. It can get pretty extreme on here sometimes.... ;)

Nice to have you on this board man, with bunch of crazy and dedicated producers. We always welcome new people with good attitude who are willing to work with all of us and help younger producers develop there skills.

Your good setup in your studio is the first step, now whats left is produce, learn, create and one more time produce, learn, ........lol

Cheers and nice to have you here.

Hi Osmodiar - nice to see a fellow Virus/MOTU user here. Welcome!

Hi there, was considering 828 mk3, focussrite liquid saffire and tc konnekt 48 ... I've chosen konnekt cause of the free poco plugins for the poco users ... I regret it sometimes :(

Last 2 years I've been using Ultralite mk1, no problems, great quality, now I get sync errors every day :/ I'm considering selling the 48 and going back to motu with 828mk3.

Anyway, enjoy the board : )
