Theres actually a lot of really great places that would be V-Day approved in that price range!

In manhattan theres Jean Georges which has a seaasonal prix fix at $85 so youll go over your budget but you should seriously consider it!



A place i wan to try which is known internationally is Sugiyama (Japanese food)

Prix Fix menues starting at 45 and going as high as 100)

i would write up a conclusive review but the fact that i took my ex here on v-day 2 years ago, doesnt give me the slightest idea what it was that we got that day. all i do remember is that, we got a plate of cheese & meats accompanied by a superb bottle of red wine to whisk down the eateries which we were so indulged by.

although, the small was quite small and the tables were very close together minimizing much privacy. despite the lack of space, it was dimly lit with a large variety of fine wines, old whiskies & craft ales.

i enjoyed the atmosphere but it was a little too-closely packed for my type of a romantic date. i would've prefered to feel a bit more isolated with just the one i came with but, nonetheless, we still had a great time and now that i think about it would like to go back someday.

btw, the purpose i chose this place was bc of their fondue (which in fact it looked super delish- this is made on just a visual judgement of others nearby) but that changed when we engaged with the menu and seen the list of cheeses & meats.

Went here a couple months back. Fantastic food, large portions (everyone left actually full), great service, and a very well-selected wine list (everything, aside from a by-request reserved list, is under $150). I can't remember what we had for appetizers--just that they were fantastic. The duck was the best I've had in a while, and cooked perfectly. Had some pastries and a great cheese plate that almost met the standards of the cheese guru of our group.

Our server was very helpful with wines. I'm not up on Italian ones at all, so she offered a suggestion that was close, but not exactly what I had in mind. For the next one, got a little closer, then, for the 3rd, offered to open two bottles for me to try and pick from (one of which was spot-on...I think it took me all of about a half second to say 'THAT one!' She only charged us for the one I picked, too.).

The only downside is the traffic, since, as is the case with most places worth going to, getting in is anything but easy. We wound up giving up on reservations, and just showed up. We (4 people) managed to get seated within 30 minutes, under the stipulation of a 2-hour limit (we wound up taking 2.5, anyway). I got the sense that the 30 minutes was less than the norm, though.

Total, before gratuity + drinks: $30-40/person
Dress: Upscale casual, but varied (typical was button-down & slacks, ranged from t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers to suits)

Appetizers were quite impressive. The octopus was excellent, and there was some other dish (again, I can't remember what) that was outstanding, as well. Unfortunately, those were the highlights. Selected a venison special they had for my entree, which, to my disappointment, was a bit bland and a fairly small portion. Very good, but nothing special. It, essentially, consisted of meat, vegetables, and some stuff to make the plate look prettier. The rest of the entrees in our group were similar--prepared very well, but on the small side and disappointingly ordinary.

The wine list is fairly limited for something so diverse in region and type. Fairly priced (about 1-2x markup), though. Fortunately, I found a familiar and safe bet before getting to the ones we had brought with us. Corkage was 40 for the pair of bottles, and they were very helpful, decanting them when we sat down upon my request, etc.

The restaurant is very cramped and a bit chaotic. Even on a Saturday night, there were less than a handful of servers, the attention of whom was not always readily available, and the close proximity of the tables to each other and the paths of to the kitchen made for a sense that a collision or spill was always imminent.

Finally, let's get to the prices. They've placed themselves in that club just below the big boys, but it's really just a 'nice' restaurant. I can understand the premium in an attractive location or a notable atmosphere, but this has neither. It's in an odd spot in Williamsburg, and could easily serve as a mom & pop shop of any sort with a little shuffling.

The verdict: Pretty good if you want a decent meal, are in the area, and have no prior plans, but not worth planning for. Keep your expectations low.

Price: $35-45/person, before tip & drinks
Dress: Casual (most in jeans & shirts, ranged from jeans, t-shirt, & sneakers to jacket w/o tie).

i know some of you city folks like your bagatelle brunch and waht not...

but for you folks in jersey and want to do something different on sundays now that football is over

Park east does an awsome brunch twice a month...there

some great food, killer sangria, and Dean K rippps it sickk

oh and alot of girls....


def something differnt and low key but gets a bit crazy

had such a great time,...

it was the 1st time i actullay went cause i could never get myself to go during the summer and during football season so today was the perfct day to go

I just had the best brunch! Nothing overly special just super cumfy great price and the food was terrific.

The sign on the chalkboard wall says "we encourage you to sit down and linger..."

Being someone who generally listens to advice well, I chose to do just that. After browsing the small but well stocked brunch menu I chose an Egg Sandwich with Munster cheese and peppered turkey bacon. My partner in crime went with his favorite- bagel with salmon, chive cream cheese and all the fixings.

We asked for a cappuccino and a chai latte for me (one of my favorite drinks, and even at the steep $4.95 price tag i couldnt help myself once i read that it was "homemade")

Shortly after finding our seats close to the door at the nicely sized table, we were served our drinks. I immediately fell in love with my chai. I started taking pictures as if these two mugs were housing Victoria secret models. Or even better- Huguain.

The meal took a bit to be prepared- about 15-20, but we were not even aware of this length do to the comfortable space and perfectly heated environment which was something i noticed immediately- as I was concerned wed be cold since we chose to sit fairly close to the door.

Of all the establishments ive been to this winter, Linger is the only one who has figured out how to actually heat their room so that I was not jittering throughout my stay.

When our food came i was in awe. They plated our dishes very well, and the size was much bigger then i expected. Although not huge, these dishes were just right. My sandwich was made with very fresh thick bread which was not over buttered or too crispy. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the cheese was not sparse and the pepper turkey bacon was Delicious and thick. Not undercooked and not burnt. The surprise was a thin layer of some sort of mustard with fresh mustard seeds that perfectly finished the meal. A small green salad on the side with a very tasty house balsamic vinaigrette cleaned the palate perfectly.

My friends salmon looked so fresh i almost found myself sneaking a piece to try. The cream cheese was so creamy and amply applied to the everything bagel that i found my mouth watering and his eyes filled with excitement as he discovered a full plate of capers, red onion and egg yolks. After he was done devouring it i was informed it was delicious and one of the best hed had (he orders this almost every sunday morning from restaurants all over ny).

Once finished we blew out the candle that we had lit on the table that had provided us that little extra comfort we needed and went to pay and say our thanks. The owner/chef was very nice and we informed her wed be back very soon. I hope shes ready for me tomorrow.

The place is so cumfortable and coffee drink menu is quite large- this paired with free wi-fi and great parking on the street- means Ill be here often to hang out and be comfortable.
