No it doesn't you tool! Indian means Indian. Asian can include Thai, Vietnamese, Singapore, Chinese, Japanese etc.
I will grant you that it can also include Indian, but saying Asian means Indian is just plain wrong.
Take that Union Jack from your location, you don't deserve it. |
Bollocks. In Eng-er-land if you say asian in the conversational sense, as SYS-J pointed out, you are generally talking about indian, pakistani, or similar. Technically, as a definition it should also include Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc, but at least colloquially in england, I had NEVER heard the term "asian" applied to people of oriental origin until I came here to live in the USA, where the other countries (such as india and pakistan) are not included in the colloquial/conversational definition of "asian".
When someone here says the club is full of asian washers, I don't think of indians - do you?
It's the same thing just in reverse here - a bad definition of the word asian.
I thought this thing was weird growing up because asia is a ridiculously large geographical area including many different races/countries. |

I stand corrected:
Asian noun (from the Cambridge Dictionary)
/ˈeɪ.ʒən/ n [C]
someone who comes from the continent of Asia, or a member of a race originally from Asia
in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, someone from China, Japan or countries near them
in the UK, someone from India, Pakistan or countries near them
However, I and my circle of friends identify Asians primarilty as I've already highlighted.
If we're talking about Indians then we use the term Indian. |

the is this?
Asia > Middle East, India, China, Japan, ING HALF OF RUSSIA.
Its a big ass continent.. Call them whatver you like, chinks, brown poo, whatever.. but calling a certain race "asian" and then leaving out half the population as "not what i usually describe as asian" is beyond retarded |

Yep - consider yourself reinstated. Out of interest, what part of the UK do you originate, and are you now living in the US permanently? |
