Because you're a moron who can't even understand how cockney slang works, even after reading up on it?

Most Asians in the UK are Indian, Pakistani or similar so many people here just associate Asian with that. That said, it always pisses me off when people use Asian as an adjective. She looks like she's from the largest and most populous continent on Earth, you say? How informative.

How else would you suggest that people describe a person's looks?

No it doesn't you tool! Indian means Indian. Asian can include Thai, Vietnamese, Singapore, Chinese, Japanese etc.

I will grant you that it can also include Indian, but saying Asian means Indian is just plain wrong.

Take that Union Jack from your location, you don't deserve it.

Taking something seriously in the COR is the same as Michael Jackson serving Jesus Juice to 8 year olds and then screwing them. Don't be pissed. Get pissed on.

Yep - consider yourself reinstated. Out of interest, what part of the UK do you originate, and are you now living in the US permanently?

I'm from London (NW London to be precise) and now live in LA permanently.

If you're going to use geography, at least be more specific than a continent of three billion people that contains multiple different races and cultures.

Well, most of us Westerners are rather poor at distinguishing Koreans from Japanese or Chinese or Laotian etc. Asian is therefore a useful term.

Humans do this all the time and it's highly useful. You might say someone is tall/short, has red/blonde/dark hair, is white/black, male/female etc. On their own the terms are rather useless because they often describe a simply duality of two disparate terms, but when many such words are used together they add up to a surprisingly good general idea. This doesn't just apply to describing people either.

Apart from male/female, none of those are simple dichotomies, but rather one of several possible answers. So I don't see your point. No matter how badly you suck at distinguishing nationality, you should be able to spot Chinese from Indian from Iraqi from Siberian. The continent contains at least four different "races" that are clearly different. If you said "Asian" to a Brit, many would think you meant an Indian even if you were talking about a Korean. How is that a useful term?

:o I think people are taking this Asian thing a bit far.

*commence insults*
