Batman - Asylum and Mirrors Edge

Although 2 games that were praised. I wasn't going to get either but I'm glad I did, because they were both excellent games which I would have missed out on!

If your a gamer and enjoy original and quality games, don't over look these 2 and pick them up cheap second hand. Cost me £25 for both. highly recommend.

Just made me think that I could actually be missing out on some great games. Any reccomendations would be appreciated, steering clear of the obvious title (Gears, Halo, Bioshock etc...)

Pick games that may have been over looked or shadowed by other games.

It's fair though.

Post in a forum with gamers, and you're bound to get all us cynical s who've been playing since the 1980's (or earlier, ) who won't be truly impressed until we're playing virtual reality on a roller-ball (I'm picturing something like a treadmill, a giant ing roller-ball that we can walk on).

Asylum and Mirror's Edge have been done. We haven't seen anything truly mind blowing in videogames since the jump to 3D, and they're so busy trying to upgrade the graphics on games that we're not seeing anything new being released. Just the same game with a new name (GTA/Assassin's Creed/Sabateur/Crackdown, for example).

Ha... I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But I have to say I have been playing games for a similar length of time, and found both these titles extremely refreshing to play! I would be interested to hear what some of your favourite games are?

I'm not saying they were ground breaking games but they still got overlooked due to other so called big games!

Imo I thought Batman was brilliantly done and very playable, with great character design, narrative and attention to detail. Where as Mirrors Edge seemed to buck the trend of generic FPS and tried something different. An original game which I am really enjoy playing.

Mirror's edge was a great concept idea, but the game itself was awful. The level design was terrible, the game was riddled with annoying bugs and edge detection problems, story-wise it had nothing going for it, and there was very little replay value. Any premise of innovation was shat on when they decided to include guns and force you into combat every 30 seconds.

Without a doubt, Shadow Complex (exclusive to the 360.) I totally overlooked this game and discovered it completely by accident one day. I was shocked at how good it was. It has been described by saying if Contra and Metorid had a baby, Shadow Complex would be their love child. :)

Quality, Cheers, Just checked this out, and it seems like a solid game. Picking it up now!

eh? Batman was one of the biggest and most talked about games of last year, with heaps of press and huge scores.

Batman had awful consolitis textures, rather bland, boring gameplay (other than the fighting which was superb) and a massive amount of hand-holding. Hamill was terrific as the joker and the overall voice acting was pretty cool, but it didn’t deserve the widespread acclaim that it received imo. It was a good game, but hardly contender for game of the year which is what everyone said.

Arkum Asylum was not a game that deserved all the praise it gets by a long shot. It's a nice solid game but it's nothing new at all.
