I could say the same thing about the media and this whole TTC fiasco.

poor customer service in a public utility is a little different than what someone does with their private life. And the response from the TTC and employees has just made matters worse.
Sorin.16v
I'd vote for him just because of this news story

no no no. i menat the part of the retarded amount of media coverage, not the story itself.

but yeah after the union response by bob kinnear today, it is obvious, the gloves are off. that was one powerful message.

I love it.
This article has way more juice than the one in the globe.

yeah exactly!
Iain, it's apples and oranges :) private life should stay private really, and if it doesn't, it shouldn't make front pages of every news outlet..

I'm speaking about media coverage in general hun. He is a public servent in an electoral race, everything about his life is public now, whether that is right or wrong is obviously debateable, my point as I tried to illustrate above, was the amount of coverage the media focuses on certain stories that really shouldnt be in the news in the first place. I was using the story about TTC drivers and their washroom breaks as another example.

I disagree... I personally wish to know about the integrity of a mayor candidate.

People who choose to become public figures need to recognize that they are PUBLIC figures and all their actions will be judged.

No way. You choose to be a public official and decide you want to set the laws for people to live by - you should be held to a higher ethical code.

If you are a super douche then I don't want you making any decisions that will affect my way of life.

his bedroom issues have nothing to do with what he does at work and it should stay that way.

politicians are only human - and humans will and can cheat
it doesn't make him by default a worse candidate to run the city
IMO of course

I think it's a little disingenuous to frag the media for how much coverage they devote to one story or another. Media is a business and the media consuming public is their market. The media reports what people are willing to pay to read about or willing to tune in to hear/see about. If you think the media is giving too much coverage to one story or another then all that really indicates is that you are out-of-touch with what the general public is interested in. The poor proformance of TTC workers gets a lot of attention because people want to know about it, Giambrone bangin' some broad other then his partner gets coverage because people want to know about it. Until such time as people stop reading the stories or listening to the news casts then you can't reasonably argue it's getting too much attention.
