| Wouldn't the designers of the course realise that if you hit the place he did that something like that could happen |

Sorry scratch that, they are doing 100 miles per hour, not kilometres. That's 160km/h with no safety netting and/or padding! :wtf:
Someone needs to lose their job for this. |

The posts could have been made of NERF and it wouldn't have made a difference.
The bigger question is why was he even in the Olympics? This was his second crash this week and he wasn't a medal threat. He isn't even within the top 50 in the world. They need to change the rules as to who qualifies for the olympics...not just in luge but in almost every olympic sport. |
I see your point, but he did have a top 50 result this season which enabled him to qualify for the Olympics. Regarding the crashes I read there were a dozen crashes before his shut it down today. Plus the IOC would get firebombed if they only allowed the top 10 or 15 athletes per event. Anyway, very sad. |

| I've actually gone on this course, though only going about 40 mph, and it scared the hell out of me. I can't imagine someone doing 100. Anyways, it's a very dangerous sport. A few years ago someone got decapitated, anyone remember seeing that? |
