i used to only listen to trance, mostly mainstream stuff like Tiesto, or whatever Ministry of Sound spits out every two months (of course im not trashing MoS)

but recently i've started to like hardstyle (or harder dance in general)

can somebody explain the difference between HARDSTYLE and HARDTRANCE?

are they the same thing? and apparently, there's also HARDHOUSE, but i'm having a hard time imagining what that would sound like.

Hard trance is a more analogue sounding trance. Much rougher sounding(usually), usually higher when it comes to bpm but not higher than 145 usually. Hardstyle is alot more broad of a term, but basically its much higher in BPM, the tracks I have are at 160-175.

I was into hardstyle a few years ago, but i kind of stopped listening when nustyle came. I hated the way EVERY song sounded like.

First was the intro with different "hard" noises that was playing in 3/4 and doing som funky rythm sounds. Then the breakdown came with a cheesy melody, i dont mind cheesy, but this was on a new level of cheese. And that pitched bassdrum... Rarely heard one of those drums sound really good.

Some hardstyle tracks bring back some Bonzai feelings :)

Hardstyle sucks. It's like being hit in the head repeatedly with a sledge-hammer.

Oldschool Hardstyle is allright. Not the most intelligent music, but it can be fun. Nustyle however is mostly ten times worse than epic trance could ever be.

I was the same only listen to the mainstream but now i have fun looking for new artist with new styles, itīs hard to be truly original now though, but a new combination is always good
