Hey guys,
I've been meaning to start this thread for quite some time but I've been incredibly busy. I just got back from an amazing day of skiing at horseshoe valley and it got me thinking about a TOTA Ski Trip.
So the weekend of the 27th looks like it would be a good time to go, but I'm not sure what you guys would prefer, a day trip or a weekend.
This really is just more or less a feeler thread to see what you guys feel on the idea, and put something together before the season concludes.
The three best places to ski that arent crazy far from Toronto are
1. Horseshoe Valey
2. Mount St. Louis Moonstome
3. Blue Mountain
So lets hear some feedback on this. Who would be interested, who has gear, and where would you guys like to. |

im going to blue tomorrow! i was thinking the same ski day idea a while back but it seems that everyone is busy on the weekends, either because they work in the industry, there is a headliner or some people have work.
i hope the riding conditions are good tomorrow.... |

I checked the events listing which is why I picked that weekend. Looks pretty quiet. Obviously some people wont be able to make it but there is no way to cater to everyone.
Next weekend isnt enough notice and the weekend after the one I choose is Oakenfold, so this seemed like a good choice. |

The next sunday is the gold medal game too.... so you have to take that into consideration.... planning ski trips is tough even with my friends.
im lucky im going with 4 tomorrow. other than that really difficult but good luck. night riding might be a better option. the night passes are cheaper and depending on when people get off work, you might be able to fit in a quick 3 hrs at blue then head back to toronto.
i used to do it all the time. rather than organize a whole day off. |

Growing up in the west I've skied the Rockies (Canadian & US [Pacific & Interior]), the Sierra Nevadas (USA) , the Alps (French, Swiss & Italian) and the Appalachians (across CA & multiple US states). I have both lift & heli-skied.
After my European expedition 13 years ago, I figured I've skied everywhere I would ever want to ski - so I retired. What else is there left to ski? (nothing IMO).
The only place I would ever consider picking up skiing again for is South America (although my friend says Chile is not that interesting from a ski perspective - mind you he only did in-bound trails vs. cat or heli out-of-bounds trips).
[My bother in LA goes heli every other weekend in the winter (airfare from LA to Nevada, Utah, Wyoming & Montana is cheap). He skis with professional guides (the people you see on Warren Miller movies). That is what you get when you have a beacon & rebreather... This would be impossible for me to keep up. :(]

Since then I have become an expert in chalet'ing. I very much enjoy the base-camp chalet experience: hot tubs, good-times, brewski and ultra-frivolity.
If TA has a ski day count me in to run the chalet experience. I run a triple-black-diamond base-camp. For me, chalet is more fun than the ski. |

I freakin' love skiing! Haven't been in two years! (although I'd want to try my hand at snowboarding again)
I am defINitely IN for this one, but would do the day trip since a friend is having their birthday party at footwork that night.
I'd be renting gear, and Blue Mountain is the only one I've been to but I'm up for any location. |

Definatly looks like Blue is the winner thus far. Mikey is in, sweet!!
I know there is a couple other TA's that expressed interest as well, I'll wait for them to post and I might have start a role call on Sat.
SWEET!! |
