I still can't believe that his Golden Cage remix wasn't getting played out everywhere last year.

however the arp line was takin from an awesome 80s record:

There are a lot of examples of this, i hear bass licks from 70s records all the time in other peoples records. One of my favorite guys that's new to ed banger is Breakbot but all his chord stabs, bass funks etc are samples. it's just really creative how he works them though.

was just skimmin throught his thread, thats cool didnt know they sampled that. i like the chris lake remix

Australians make the best house and that's a scientific fact.

Bag Raiders
The Presets
Van She (remixes)
Cut Copy
Muscles
Tonite Only (RIP)
Knightlife
Shazam

That said, Europeans aren't too bad.

Fred Falke
Lifelike
Alex Metric
Digitalism
DJ Falcon
Etc.

Kris Menace is . I don't see what the big deal is; he's not even a good DJ. Does anyone else find that American house producers really suck? I can't think of a single one that I actually like.

My personal favorites.

As for tips, MOAR SIDECHAIN! lol. And for sampling, I just try to find housey parts in old funk and disco records, and chop the song up in my head before i manually do it (so annoying, it feels like work). Having tried Ableton's demo, I think Ableton is perfect for filter house because it's just so much easier to do effects there, and sample manipulation.

I use dblue glitch (free) for inspiration and let it run on random sometimes, but i think much of that glitchy stuff is best done manually. I hear kontakt is good for sampling, but you'd have to have someone else tell you about that since i don't have it.

check artists or labels like this :

the actual "french electro house" style i would say :
justice
para one
surkin
sebastian
institubes
ed banger
busy p
boys noize
dj mehdi
kavinski
birdy nam nam

in a more housy/old school flavour :
muttonheads
dj falcon
dj gregory
label "scratch"
label "roul"
thomas bangalter

you should easilu find everyones myspace ;)
Hope it will help you
Cheers!

Best tip thus far. The sound I'm after is definately an extreme pump but the way in which it pumps is unique. It's not your typical ducking. I'm going to try playing around with track delays to see if I can get what I'm looking for. Thank you very much for posting this.
