Half the animations/models/particle effects look excellent, the other half look like utter ass. Is this still in early development? Just a minor squibble, graphics typically are not game-breaking for me.
Looks neat as hell though, if they structure character development and maybe an objectives system better than Stalker did, it could really be an interesting rival.

Comes out tonight.
I'm stopping STALKER Call of Pripyat cold turkey. I think this will replace it.
There are children in this game.
oh man, night vision goggles.

GAME OF THE YEAR. GAME OF THE YEAR.
absolutely incredible. I'm about 2 hours in. The metro stations sound fantastic. Everyone single person had dialogue (albeit, some are very short), but it really makes me feel as if I'm amidst an actual population. Go around and hear fathers scolding their children or women bickering about the cleanliness.
There's no crosshair in normal difficulty. There's no HUD. You're health replenishes on its own, and this is fairly unbalanced in normal (i've been attacked by 4 enemies at once for 20 seconds straight and still get out in good condition). You must wear a gas mask when entering hazardous areas and check your watch to see how much time you have left in your air filters.
The graphics are astounding. Smoke, fire, lighting, animation, 10/10.
Running out of ammo and crawling through the tunnels with nothing but a knife and a flashlight (which dies out if you don't manually generate a charge for it), is quite the experience. Although you do run in hordes and heaps of ammo, ammo is used as currency in the game to upgrade weapons or buy new weapons all together. Every bullet needs to count, either in combat or in finances.

really? coz reading the reviews it sounds exactly like what i was expecting- good ideas, great atmosphere but dodgy gameplay and execution. might wait til it drops in price (a lot).

my criticisms:
Normal difficulty feels like easy.
Gun play feels weird. The best I can compare it to is Bioshock.
Certain characters are voice poorly. And that's a given in every game. But this game also has poor recording quality. At times, even the narrator sounds like he's much too close to the microphone. That's in strange contrast to the rest of the game's sound quality, which is superb. If you get close enough to a leaking pipe, you can actually hear the individual dripping.
Map/level structure. Sometimes the game will stop and start loading the next level, despite the fact that I've yet to accomplish my objective, only to realize the level has been broken up into 2-3 "mini" maps. Breaks the tension. Sometimes I will run ahead of a team mate while he is in the middle of a conversation and, bam, loading screen.

heard not so good things about this game. from what i read, it's just standard fare for a shooter. lots of bugs such as getting stuck in the landscape and such. but i guess the atmosphere is fantastic. the game looks pretty at least. i probably won't pick this one up.

Installed the PC version to check it out, and jeebus does it need one hell of a machine to run it. I can't run it with an AMD 965 and Radeon 5870 in DX11 without getting very low framrates. Need a 2nd 5870 for this. DX10 maxed is no problem, and it is indeed a very pretty game, and great voice acting. Object & character details on just about everything is awesome. Starting chapter 2 atm.
