We would have broken up no matter what; he wanted to get married, buy a house with the white picket fence, have kids and just fall into the rut of working everyday 9-5 for the rest of our lives. I didn't want that and once I realized that I couldn't change his mind about it, I knew our relationship was heading south (and so did he). That was the ultimate reason we broke up, and why it was on good terms. He knew that he wouldn't give me the life I wanted, and I wouldn't be able to give him the one he wanted, so we ended it. |

Passion is not a must.
I've been in a relationship with a guy who was attractive, nice, respectful, smart, and we got along very well. However, I never felt that spark with him, when I kissed him- it was JUST a kiss. I liked him a lot, but I never knew why I was never crazy about him. There was absolutely no passion here, and if I were old & seeking companionship I would probably be with him because he fills the cup just enough..
Now I'm in a relationship with someone I would have never seen as 'my type'. He is nice, respectful, smart, and attractive- just as other men I've dated. Usually when I'm dating a guy, after the fist 2 months, I start loosing interest and I make an excuse to break up. I've never been in the position where I've been with someone for more than a year and I'm still dying to see him. We can be together cooking, doing homework, showering, running errands, for 3 days straight and I'm not tired of him, which is amazing. When we kiss I feel butterflies and I start talking really stupid. When I'm away from him I'll think of him and smile and try to NOT smile because people are staring at me but I can't help it lol. Sometimes I feel like pulling all his hair out from the root because I'm so upset/frustrated with him, but somehow we always manage to fix misunderstandings. I'm glad we argue, in the other relationship we rarely had an argument, what's the point if you don't feel the entire range of emotions? Unlike other relationships where I was apathetic to fixing a misunderstanding & didn't mind if we broke up. I've never been with someone who makes me feel like I'm deeply breathing fresh cold air. I could go on and on but I could say I'm very passionate with my partner and I'm a lot happier being with someone who just makes me feel ME and complete and happy. I don't have to fake anything and I can be my true self. I'm amazed he's the first person who puts up with my complicated personality.
So, passion is not a necessity, it is a luxury and hard to find in a relationship. You can live with or without it. Life seems to be sweeter with it. |
