ok so i want to setup a little mobile workshop that could be used in various settings mainly for a bit of "on the spot" mic recording, sampling and processing. the idea is to use it in different settings (i.e outdoor in the park) for additional inspiration and have a different writing/sketching approach rather than my home studio.
i have a newer acer aspire one
i did some googling and it seems that its possible to run reason 4, ableton 7 (pretty weak though) and for some loop based stuff ACID express is decent
but what i'm wondering if any of you here have done this already and can share some additional info
particularly interested in anyone running ableton 5 and its performance and running reason 3 or possibly even 2.
any additional insights are helpful !

1.6GHz...:nervous:
Sounds too slow for Ableton 7.
Let us know how it works out. |

| You would probably get better mileage out of something like EnergyXT or Reaper. Cubase, Sonar, Live and so on are all far too heavy. I gave FL Studio a shot on mine and I could only load 1 decent synth. |

You could try these two setups:
1) Sony acid pro 7 & Reason 4
These two were designed as if they were made for each other. You can even automate Reason's synths in Acid. I haven't found any other program that does this. And acid is quick with loop creation and what not and its time-stretching algorithm is excellent.
2) Mackie Tracktion
This program is extremely quick & its user interface is fast and efficient. It will be perfect for laptop recordings and quick idea sketches. But just be aware of certain plugins it seems to not like. |

Every program that supports ReWire can do this rofl. |

I have tried other programs. No other program can create a midi clip for one on Reason's instrument and draw automation in that clip for a parameter of Reason's synth.
In other programs, you can only have a midi clip and draw notes for one of the synths of Reason. But not able to draw automation for example for a 'filter frequency' of Dr.Rex or Thor or whatever.
In Acid, you can create multiple midi clips for that instrument, assign instrument, go to clip properties and you will have the whole list of options you can automate and just draw away. Including, smooth curves which Reason by itself can't do. Unless you like drawing a bunch of dots to replicate a curve. |

And how exactly do you go about doing that? I have an old copy of Cubase. I would like to try it out and see if I know what you're talking about. |

| Steinberg and Propellerheads developed ReWire specifically for use between Reason and Cubase. Of course it can be done, and not just with Cubase. |

Then show the steps to how it is done. Because, I have tried it with several programs and was unable to do so. I've only seen this feature in Acid. |

"I'm too dumb to work out how to use a feature, therefore it doesn't exist". Awesome work you dud, lol.
