i can understand the disappointment. i'm the same thing with severe weather. it's kind of a fetish for apocalyptic stuff. no one wants to see a tornado, but no damage to anything. :gsmile: |

they spent so many hours hyping the destruction, it makes them look stupid when it doesn't pan out. |

It was pretty funny, the media was asking an oceanographer earlier:
Media: "Are the waves going to be 12' high?"
Oceanographer: "No...they will be a maximum of half that amount. Probably no more that 2'"
Media 5 mins later still reports the waves being 12' high.
I hate the media with a passion. |

On a side note, please can Americans note that Buoys are pronounced Boys...not Boo-ee's.
And Chile is pronounced Chilly...Not Chillay!
Thanks for basterdising our language. |

that would just sound wrong
to Chile saying that they are able to manage this on their own |

More than 60 aftershocks greater than 5° so far here in Chile. The situation isn't critic at all I'd say, but some people are hysterical about the aftershocks. They shouldn't, this country has always been struck by strong earthquakes and the experts said that aftershocks will last for at least one month. Better get used to them. |

| i just heard on hawaiian tv that walmart ran out of bread and canned goods at one of their stores there. i gues tsunamis are good for business, especially when they didn't actually happen. |

| News I was reading said that it was an 8.8 quake and over 200 killed, quite nasty. That said I'm not expecting a monster wave even though we have a warning in effect. |

We finally reached my best friend... via Skype :wtf:
She was alone when the earthquake struck. Everyone had gone out that night and she stayed home because she wasn't feeling well. She told me she ran across the hall and stayed with the family who lived there for 3 hours until her friends got home. She lives 10 minutes from Concepcion and was in Valparaiso just last week -- both areas that were largely ed up by the quake
this is insane |

earthquakes and tsunamis have nothing to do with weather. whatsoever. |
stop trying to dodge my question. Did you see Satan in the pic? I understand everyone is understaffed now a days, but why put him on the phones? Sure you made him wear a cap to cover the horns but still... |
