Ahh man I wanna get another synth!! =]

Ok look I don't give a what anyone says I love my ti, I've been saving up money for 2 months now. I have $1800 put away just for 2 things really, monitors and an audio interface. Likely I'm still not going to spend all of it just on that, I understand I can get $1000 monitors and an $800 audio interface, but I'm most likely gonna do $600 for the monitors and $4-500 on the audio interface. I don't need crazy high end equipment.

That would leave me with about 6 or $700 left. Now, things have got even more interesting because I am getting an $1100 tax return in the mail soon. I honestly don't need that money for anything else. So technically, I'll be left with around another $1800.

The way I want to do it, is get a cheaper analog synth used, then spend the other $800 on treatment. I'm going all out here and if you wanna yell at me garight ahead I don't give a (unless its Richie V then it will most likely make me cry). Anyway, I'm itching for the Waldorf Pulse (saw one on ebay recently for $650) I love the way this thing sounds, its so gritty and raw sounding, and it sounds very different then what I'm use to. I was also contemplating a Nord 2 rack but I already did the VA thing with my Snow. My thing is this, I already have a virus right (I love it and am still slowly learning how to use it - it will be a long process but I'm still completely happy with it). The virus imo does everything I could hope for in terms of pads, leads, fx, plucks, etc. The one area that doesn't stick out to me is bass. It does make beautiful basslines but the Waldorf just sounds so different and beautiful. The Nord also sounds great for bass but again I'm not sure if I want to get another VA, it would make more sense to go analog at this point.

I am completely open to suggestions, hopefully within the $1800 price range. I'm not buying it soon, will prob hold off another month or 2 till I'm sure. Cause after this I'm not dropping another dime for a few years. I know the Pulse and Nord are very different sounding, but I'm leaning more towards the pulse. I also love the way the Q sounds, there are used racks for $750 but again its VA like the Nord. I'm looking for a little killer bass machine I guess to compliment my virus. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome, unless its from Riche V. He has continously displayed he can not stop measuring his internet in nearly every thread, and I'm not in the mood for it. So lets please stay on topic. =]

go to a shop to test out moogs, might be worth your while for basses.

Nothing comes close to the sound of a pure sound oscillating Nordlead

top that

Maybe you should get your speakers/audio device/treatment...

Work with them for a while...

then start thinking about another synth...

If your after better bass from a synth, before you spend a fortune on a hardware synth, I would suggest you try out U-he's Ace synth. That synth is wicked for many sounds, for me it sounds outstanding for bass. Best thing is its cheap, like 80 bucks I think. Its modular, ACE, any cable anywhere. It is perhaps the best, most full sounding soft synth I've heard yet.

Then you still have money left and can spend more on ur monitors and interface, or maybe get something like NI Maschine, that piece there has changed my life for producing. I rarely look at computer anymore in the creative stages.

+1 on both accounts! I don't have ACE, but I've tried the demo and, yeah, monster basses are a piece of cake with it. Maschine is, well, Lucidity summed it up perfectly!

Or, you could consider buying a Nord Rack 3 - I hear that some very cool dude has one on eBay:

ACE? Really? Never heard of it to be honest. I am def checking out the demo the second I get done with this.

And software recommendations are fine, I've also been contemplating trillian, its cheap, but I'm not sure if its exactly what I'm looking for. I could though pick it up along with ACE. Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate it.

And the little phatty is sexy as hell but I haven't really checked it out yet.(NI maschine too)

Listening to ace right now sounds very different then what I'm use to hearing and I love it, at that price I have to get this tommorow. Awesome recommendation thanks!

You haven't really heard much have you? Ace is a CPU killer and the sound doesn't really warrant such overhead. The lack of oscillators and for some odd reason despite its name Any Cable Anywhere has a serious limitation in modulation . This synth is not very versatile and in my opinion uninspired. I would personally save the money on a nice counsellor as you have some anger issues. Threatening to beat people up on the internet is a sign that you are cuckoo.

I agree, that ACE is not very versalite and that name can be very misleading. Any cable doesn't really go anywhre.

If you want a nice soft-synth with low CPU usage without compromising sonic quality, check this out:

There are some demo materials on the page as well. I just started using this. It looks confusing at first glance, but it's pretty simple to use.
