anyone here living in york region and uses an OTA antenna for HD channels?

i installed one today and i receive all the canadian networks but not the american ones. i would really like to get nbc/cbs/abc/fox. my current setup is a 4-bay antenna with a +12dB amplifier.

where'd u buy yours? and how much?
I heard the higher you put it...and the closer to DT you are, you can get them if facing the right way. You're pretty far up north, so the signal might be weaker for the American channels.

it is mounted on my roof. i bought it from tech-source when they had it on sale for $12.99. thinking about picking up an 8-bay tomorrow but i dunno if i wanna buy a digiwave for $68+tax or a channel master for $100+tax.

dude, I thought you know my setup from other OTA threads.

Throw out your 4-bay and get a Channel Master 4228, or Antennas Direct DB8 like I have, if you're planning to keep it fixed. But I have a rotator on my old school antenna that pulls better from the rooftop shopping cart.

I have tons of advice, I don't know where to start. I'm pulling them all from up here in Aurora.

You can pick up all those digital stations with a loop antenna if you live by the lake.

where is the cheapest place around the markham area to pick up a CM4228HD or AD-DB8? i think i would prefer the antennas direct though.

edit: how much difference is there between those and the Digiwave in terms of specs?
chinamon
i just looked at the specs on the manufacturer website for all three of those models....

Channel Master 4228HD
* Reception Range High VHF: Channels 7 thru 13 up to 45 miles
* Reception Range UHF: Channels 14 thru 69 up to 60 miles
* Picks up UHF, High VHF and HD
* Antenna Size: 5.5 x 41 x 33 in
* Turning Radius: 20.5 in
* Easy installation
* 75 Ohm PC balun built into antenna
* Easily mounts to a traditional antenna mast
* Superior average UHF gain: 12 dB

Antennas Direct DB8
# Range: Up to 70 miles or more
# Impedance 300/75 ohm
# Works up to 70 miles or more from transmitters
# Very flexible aiming characteristics
# Weatherproof construction
# High gain across entire UHF band (UHF channels 14-69)
# Max Gain 15.8 dB
# Dimensions 29" H x 42" W x 4" Deep
# Weight: 10 pounds

Digiwave Super DB8
No. of Elements: 8
Frequency Range : 470-862MHz
Channels: Ch. 21-69
Antenna Gain: 20-36dB
Beam Width H/V: H 60/ V32
Front-back Ratio: 22 dB
Impedance: 75Ω
Antenna Length: 820mm

the only spec that i am concerned about is the gain and the digiwave seems to be the best and is the least expensive (almost half the price of the antennas direct). i might just go with that.
