went to the palms pool party on sunday, great times for sure, but musically speaking, i agree, danny t's set was a little too dark for a pool party. i mean, his sets are known to be solid dark nyc basement/bigclub crackden tunes, but i dont think its the best choiceg for a sunny pool party. anywho, it was a great time and hella packed.

got to rain sunday night at 4am. ooops. fail. missed armin. fail. but garth came on and played the top ten trance fun choones, so that was fun. and liked how he kinda banged it out towards the end. left when the lights came on at 5.30, great times, but kinda wished i got there earlier. i believe i said hello to michelle.

My review.

Sat night Rain was the usual. Crowded outside. We had the good luck of walking in with Johnny. Sweet! Saved atleast 30 mins of line! Thanks Johnny.

Got in when Blake was getting warmed up. Did very well. A lot more bass since last time I saw him @ Rain. Getting the drink on, meeting other TA and next thing you know it seemed like I was in Circus :D

Oakenfold came on, my first time to see him live. He did alright. Wasn't really paying too much attention.

Markus came on, and he really really really killed it. It was definitely LV > SD > OC!!!! I totally lost track of time and just hit the floor upfront. And next thing you knew it was over. Was a little too short! He came out shook hands and said that the last 3 days are building to the grand finale @ LA... Damn missed that gig.

Crashed at the motel @ 6am. Passed out for 4hrs. Woke up shower and rushed over to Paris Champagne brunch. At 11am, the buffet line was 2hrs long... it left and rushed over to Palms buffet. Saw a bright glare that caught my attention while turning left to the palms parking lot. After a brief investigation, it was gpc crossing the street.

After eating, got my wrist band and headed to the pool at 1:30. The line was about 30 mins long. It was packed. There was no where to go. Had to settle at this little island to the side right infront of the speakers on the side. Since it was a pool party I didn't bring my plugs so ouch.

Music was suprisingly good. House music is awesome for this type of chill event. People are dancing everywhere. I liked Danny T's set. I love it dark. The drinks were really expensive. $15 for a cocktail and $45 for 6 miller lite. Think when I closed my tab it was 200+ Next time pre-drink? I guess I got pretty trashed. Rushed back to the motel to sleep it off. Apparently I thought I was texting my wife but ended up to be the wrong person lol.

Bad mistake. Woke up hung over and not feeling too well. Went back to Rain. Nice decor! Love the mushroom theme hehe. Best cure to a hangover is, more booze! Rain was ridiculously packed that night. Good thing we camped at the right of the stage to avoid the crowd. Steven did awesome! Really got me into the mood, and out of my hangover. Armin got on and destroyed it!!! I felt so tired after Armin, but Gareth got on the decks and kept dropping amazingness! Danced till my legs almost fell apart. My right feet is still numb as I type this...

Markus played less than 2 hours in Vegas (I heard 1 hour 45-50 min). Not sure if that can be compared to a 2 hour 45 min set. Hour makes a big diff! That said, I am sure the crowd was INSANE and made everything that much better. Imagine if Markus played his SD set in that type of crowd! Insanity!

A crowd can def make a set better. And going by the vids/pics I've seen, looks ike an insane crowd. Kinda wish we would've bit the bullet and just gone. :)

yep Markus played about 3-5. I thought he was supposed to go from 2am,
and I think everyone noticed, the engineers were messing around with the setup for almost an hour. It didn't sound like Oakenfold was really planning to play til 3. the last hour was poorly programmed, repeated tracks, and the crowd getting kinda disinterested I'd say from 2:30 to 3 at least...my friends and I were actually shocked that Joakenfold really wasn't that bad...other than that it really was a great time. Had a great group with so we had a blast.

One negative was Jes, not only can't she sing, but the sound was bad. It interrupted the flow of the sets at least 3 or 4 times.

Anyways, can't wait for July 4th!

Here's my weekend in a nutshell:

Thursday was meh.. Eddie Halliwell's set was a bit too trancey for me, got served a disgusting attempt of a $14 long island, and left about an hour into it. Markus ripped it on Friday, setting up a great segue into the weekend.

Saturday at Rain was great, but due to so many things going on in Vegas, we were told to wait in the wrong line by both Rain staff AND goventures people, wasting an hour in line that went to Moon.

Eventually we make it inside at 12:30am, and Oakenfold dropped some hard hitting beats that got the club rockin out. I couldn't find set times anywhere, so I was was hoping Markus would be on around 1am. Instead, Jes came on and sang unintelligible lyrics that killed whatever Oakie had going.

FINALLY at 3am, Markus comes on, but we're all danced out and thinking Markus wasn't gonna show or something. We only stayed for about an hour, and were really stoked that he didn't play the same set as the night before. We get home at sunrise, which is awesome because SD's nights end just as Vegas' nights just get started :(

Sunday was so crazy. Walking into a mushroom-themed Rain and hearing Jordan Stevens' drop hard beats drop got me groovin the moment I walked in. The go-go's were rockin out (best of the 3 clubs in the past few days), and we find our special spot where we have an optimal view and aren't packed like sardines.

I thought Gareth would be coming on at 1am (since markus came on at 3), but it was actually Armin! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to record any of Gareth Emery's set that started at 3am, but he definitely surprised me with how hard it was! We stayed until closing and went home again with the sun in the sky..

I'm still recovering, but damn.. it was awesome!!!!

So, we got married and celebrated our reception at the palms with a cabana outside. BAD MISTAKE. Pauly D is without a doubt, the WORSE dj I have ever heard in my life.

I try to be very respectful to all artists and find some way to appreciate the music they play. But I'm sorry, I just couldn't do it on this one. It was just plain bad. I went from the happiest day of my life to the most miserable. The drunker I got, the more painful it became. The dance floor was dead. People were trying to dance but you could see that it just wasn't working.

Maybe that was the plan. Get Pauly D to play outside, forcing everyone to move inside and dance to Armin?? Having a local DJ's mixed CD play for everyone would have been more exciting then the bull this guy turning out.

sorry for the rant but c'mon Palms. You guys are better then this.
