Reakktor Media GmbH has announced that it will team up with the Hamburg-based publisher gamigo AG on its upcoming space-based MMO, Black Prophecy.
The companies have also decided to make Black Prophecy free-to-play, which is something that fans have been wondering about since the game was announced last year. Despite the business model, however, we're assured that the quality of the game will match those with monthly subscription fees.
“Reakktor’s Black Prophecy will breathe life back into a genre previously forgotten” said gamigo's Patrick Streppel, “The game features graphics of the highest quality, a rich and meaningful story, and strong community features. Since we've begun collaborating with Reakktor, we have expanded greatly upon the concept of the game and thus are able to offer one of the first top-of-the-line free-to-play MMOGs.”
In the last few weeks, BP has had a crafting system added and seen the layout of the game open up. In-game dialogue will be recorded by “professional voice actors”, and an hour and a half of original orchestral soundtrack will be included.
"We are excited to have found such a strong partner in gamigo for the publishing and distribution of our space action MMOG Black Prophecy” said Kirk Lenke, CEO of Reakktor Media GmbH. “gamigo has the necessary skills and abilities to turn our product into a global MMOG blockbuster."
The game's closed beta test is due to start next month, stay tuned for more info as its released. |

| Dont know, while its tempting and i did after all play the out of X3, freelancer, privateer and other games like that, taking that one step further and venturing into MMO territory seems like stepping over the line where maintaining even a shadow of a social life is an impossibility. |

| Haha, id never get THAT into it. but its pretty much the only option for us space sim fans these days (other than jumpgate evolution which is subscription based) so I might give it a run and check it out. Id still much prefer an SP sequel to something like freespace, but nobody wants to make them :( |

I gotta admit...that's quite a Jew statement, lol. There's plenty of great MMO's that are worth paying for |

yeah, i was reading about that earlier today. its hard to get me excited by any MMO but as long as the gameplay is centered in the cockpit it could be worth a look.
why cant someone just make an epic SP space sim with lots and of lasers? :( |

Oh it's going to be free? Sweet!
I was keeping an eye on it but was getting a little disappointed by some of the announcements. If it's free though, I'll definitely give it a go.
I'd still be playing Eve but it takes too much time so this could be good for a few hours here and there. Let's all join the same alliance and try it out at launch, yea? |
