*-bonus track
I worked very hard on this and hope everyone enjoys the mix. CD 2 is underway and hopefully I can have a ton of copies of both to hand out at a few upcoming shows.
This is the first of two mixes I am working on. I named the mix silver lining in regards to how my life seems to be turning around from difficult times.
I don't have any cover art as that isn't my specialty. I do have a full track list with the info for a cue file if you all wish to burn an indexed CD. I encoded the mix at 320mp3 as I wanted the mix to be heard at the sound quality it was intended to be heard at. Once I finsh both mixes I can make a 192 for those want a smaller file size.
Enjoy! |

So over 125 hits and multiple downloads and no one comments :p
"Oh no..I won't tell him his mix is bad cuz he's the crazy-ass of the forum who drinks Jack Daniel's and pistol-plays with his .45. I heard how he killed that possum Terminator 1 sarah connor's roomate style."
Yeah I see how it is. The nutcase of the forum gets no love. :whip: Nah Nah that's okay! That's alright. I was the crazy outsider in high school and I can be one here too :p
I'm just bulltin, hopefully everyone who downloaded it likes it enough. I was thinking of releasing both mixes at the same time, but I wanted to get a feel for everyone's opinions before I got too far with the next one. CD 2 will be a bit more on a trancier edge build-up wise..but I'm keeping the tempo at the low 130s. |

Honestly, ive never really felt any kind of connection to your mixes. even in the past, you start a set with a progressive trance track and follow up with more dancey housier tracks. that i just dont feel. we've also had few tracks we both playlisted and id drop the track as soon as you played em or had em in a mix. thats just me man. it doesnt mean i wouldnt invite you over to play at a gathering @ my house because obviously not everyone feels like that.
ill take a listen but as it goes in the past, i doubt ill be impressed. |

Music is all about preference. I pair tracks based on their keys mainly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If someone doesn't feel my set, it won't hurt my feelings. I do appreciate an honest opinion however. |

Just another longwinded note :P about my programming preferences whether its a live mix or mix CD. When I play out, I base the tempo of my set..and the track selection on the size of the crowd, how early or late in the evening it is, and what kind of vibe I am getting on the currently playing track. I use my gut instinct from being in hundreds of crowds to gauge whether I am playing too fast, too slow, too deep, or to hard. I never pre-plan sets as a plan can easily fail.
Mix CDs, there is no crowd so I simply have to pair up each song and see how compatible it is with the previous track. If it sounds good to me, I go with it. It is called my tastes...and they are no better or worse than anyone on this forum. Which brings me to the tracks I purchase and play out.
I ignore others playlists, charts, what's downloaded the most, what's promoted the most..or any of that. I listen to hundreds of tracks and narrow them down to the 5% I prefer the most. I've already gone into many time as far as what I listen for in a track but it basically comes down to: whether I simply like it or not. Again, my tastes.
I do not expect everyone to like my mixes. But I am very grateful for those who do. They are what keep me going forward, when I feel like giving up. I put alot of time and energy in making the mixes I do and getting the sound quality right. It is an extremely painstaking process to master a mix to sound like I intend it to, and thank God I got the Waves Mercury and Platinum bundles of plug-ins for me to help me with the multi-band dynamics compressors/expanders, the look-ahead peak limiters and a few others.
As soon as the mix is done, dithered down to 16bit 44.1khz, encoded to MP3 and uploaded...that's it. People will either approve or reject the mix. If the mix isn't too ones tastes that's understandable. But if the mix is a flop because the overall sound quality is or the transitions sound too muddy or distorted, or for any technical reason, I take such criticsms into consideration and try to make a better mix next time.
I mix to see people jumping up and down and having a good time. And for the person who approaches me after my set and says how it changed their night for the better. :) That's it. |

so funny youd say that, i choose tracks based on basslines/basstones, because a progressive trance bassline is typically heavier than that of a progressive house. |

If they sound like they'd be a good match at the time I cue the track up...then that's what gets mixed in. I go with what my gut instinct and ears are telling me. *shrug* It either works or it doesn't, I never claimed to be a master at this :) |
