Getting tested for HIV

A cathartic experience to say the least.
Highly recommended, especially for those who claim to suffer from depression. I'm not sarcastic - after 24 hours of agony you will appreciate every sunbeam and every blade of grass!

I have had a false positive test before. Been tested every few months for a year after that, results always come back negative. I blame the medication I was taking at the time...

Even if you are HIV positive, basically that just means you will live slightly shorter and can't .

A both sufficient and necessary requirement, no doubt (it turning out negative, that is).

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Holy . What was it like that first day, when you thought you had the HIV???
TranceGiant
Not that wild tbh, just a drunken ONS with doubts as to protection the next morning and some of those flu-like symptoms shortly thereafter. I'm a hypochondriac by nature, unfortunately.

Dude... I would have blown my brains out before having the rationale to get tested again. Nice work going back for more testing. . :nervous:

Waiting for test results of any kind is ing grueling.
Waiting for HIV test results puts me in near hysterics, even when I know that I really have nothing to worry about, I still put myself in the worst state of panic wondering "what if" :nervous:

@ djnitride: What the !! :wtf: , there aren't enough words I can drag out of my vocabulary to describe how bad I feel for you when you had to go through that. YIKES! :(

! :(

Yep, that's how most people approach it unfortunately, I guess it's some way of rationalizing/ preparing for the worst case scenario - some sort of a defense mechanism. I was running in circles and became absolutely obsessed with it for 2-3 weeks (note: wikipedia articles do no help) until I manned up and decided to get it over with. I guess what I really should get tested for is this general hypochondria/pessimism/anxiety. It's not healthy.
