Male Vocal Trance (pg. 2)

I really don't mind male vocals. If the person sings well, or it fits the song, gender doesn't make a difference to me.

Generally speaking, I don't either. I love vocals in music - it's just when the vocals are insipid yet somehow well performed that I find them to be irksome. It was the coup de gras of the carpet-baggers who, somewhat predictably, came along and plundered the genre to fill it with their commercially (perhaps an over-simplification as there are good commercial ventures) motivated hack-stain.

There are a couple of good, male 'dance music' vocalists out there, though. Karl Hyde is great.

Underworld aren't exactly trance, but whatever.

There are plenty, going right back to Jamie Principle or whoever. Epic trance's fist-clenching over-emotive vocal delivery just sucks from top to bottom. None of these awful male vocals in trance would sound any better if they were sung by women.

Call it nostalgia, or whatever but this is one of the few male vocal trance tracks that I enjoy.

I had goosebumps with that one :) Dinand sounded amazing, especially if you know the original of Kane.

I'll be honest, they put on a good show. I just think it sounds really silly with the uplifting trance + male vocals. If you think it was nice, that's cool, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Makes me shiver so.
But it keeps me coming back.

THAT is horrible, stupid, lyric writing. The fact that it repeats, makes it all-the-more horrible.

The Original was actually pretty cool, its not the most complicated tune A&N has done but its energetic (im talking gay club energetic!:p ) and catchy as hell.

Im ashamed to admit i really like Above and Beyond - Alone Tonight as well...

Examples im not ashamed of includes Piledriver; Empty State by armin, Jump the Next Train and Are You Fine by K&A.

The lyrics are usually pointless in EDM, so sometimes a man singing it puts more soul into it imo.

But i guess im kinda biased cuz i pretty much hate female vocals (why are they screaming all the time?!)

A couple I don't mind off the top of my head:

Alone Tonight

Without you Near

Dogzilla - Without You

Coincidentally all out around the same time and some similar titles too.

The more I think about it, it's more about the music than the vocals with these. Thats really the bottom line for me.

Without You Near is what got me into dance music in the first place.

SOMEONE ELSE

I still dig that song, nostalgia is a powerful thing.

While we're talking about Nostalgia, here's a male vocal that I have always liked. :o

Not many come to mind, to be honest.

Piledriver is really the only thing I can think of.

Some progish stuff like Loveless is nice. Love Believe, but that's not trance. Mercury Skies is pretty good. Damn. Mostly a fan of little snippets or samples, not full on male vocals.
