lol... dude I don't. I play no limit only. And people STILL don't give a . Just to play no limit $1/$2 blinds, statistically I believe you're advised to have $800-1000 in your bankroll. I'm not going to put that much money into my Pokerstars account to dick around with when there are people at those on line tables who play 16 tables at a time, use advanced poker software on their computers to aid them, and do exactly that all day as their "job". I feel much better playing live poker at one table in a casino. |

I live in Canada and my bank recently banned my Credit Card for online gambling. Wasn't aware it was illegal, apparently since Full Tilt is located in the UK and it's offshore I can't play on their site. Although the sites based on the Kahnawahee(spelling?) resort in Quebec are apparently legal because I started playing on Ultimate Bet and my bank hasn't blocked that yet, mind you I tried PokerStars and wasn't able to play there either.
Any of you Canadians playing on any of these sites, any ways around it that you know of? :happy2: |

I read an article a while back on the technology these sites use to play the actual poker games. Basically its all rigged and they have percentages they cream off the top with electronic bot players automatically winning every 20 hands or something.
Your a total idiot if you think you can beat the system playing online. |

I play on Pokerstars once in a while, but the frustration of losing to fishing s and donkeys makes my blood boil... I usually play in microlimit cash games like 5/10 cent blinds, or 10/25 cent blinds if I'm feeling ballsy. If you play 4 tables at a time and play smart, you'd be surprised how fast you can build your bankroll in those microlimit rooms. But, a lot of excellent players drop down to those rooms to practice, especially to refine their "loose aggressive" style, which creates havoc because they'll constantly call and re-raise with nothing until they build a hand on you. Next think you know, you're throwing in frustration. |
you're playing at too low of a limit imo, or perhaps your playing-style isn't suited well against "loose agressive" players? not calling you a bad player or anything, but personally, if i decide a table is overly volatile, i will usually just move to a different table that i am more confident i can make money at (at the casino, that is).

$800-1000 is a miniscule bankroll for 1-2. i'm not saying you can't be successful, but you can go broke quickly with that small of a bankroll. what is that, five min buy-ins or so? they say you're supposed to have at least 100 buy-ins for your bankroll for whatever limit you're playing at- i don't personally agree with that, nor do i abide by that, but that's what i've read in numerous opinion columns in the poker mags that i read while waiting for a seat at the poker room :p
and dude i'm all about live games too. online poker. i wouldn't risk any sizeable amount of money in an online game either. especially with incidents of cheating (such as the debacle with ultimatebet), and legislation that the US keeps trying to push. that, and it's a big dick-around to get your money out- faxing a copy of your ID, credit card, etc. i don't like it.
@OP- most people i play with use full tilt; i used to use it back in the day and was generally satisfied with it. i still say if you have a poker room nearby, go there instead and don't even dick with the online . |

Alright thanks for the input. I wouldn't think that the big sites out there would have bots running in their room. I mean they are already making decent money and to deliberately do something fraudulent against their terms of service seems kind of far fetched and loose changeish.
Right now i just play WSOP on my phone online and its not cash games.
I just wanted to get a feel for playing and strategy online before getting out into the real games. Alot of these big fish you see on TV started off online as well, so it would seem that you can get a good ranking if you play well on a decent site.
Anyways thanks for the input.

I play on Full Tilt and have made 2 successful withdraws of winnings so far. Mainly play mid-level buy in SitNgos and some multi-table tournaments. I have played non stop for about a year and a half ago, lost my first 2 buy ins in the beginning but now I don't go busto anymore. Post any specific questions and I can probably help.

Oh, I played a 90 person $14 knockout tournament last night. Was just drinking and playing pretty passive but I was catching cards and winning all my races. Ended up absolutely destroying the final table when I got down to it. Took 1st good for $288 plus every person I busted payed $2 for a knockout bounty:gsmile:
Anyways, I know most people think online poker is boring as fack but I get psyched about turning my little $30 buyin into $300. Of course it took soo much online playing for me to start really grasping the strategy for these tournaments and actually start showing profit. |

| If you want some good online help via video tutorials and are willing to spend a few bucks. Cardrunners.com is the place to go. A bunch of my friends who play online swear by their videos as being extremely helpful. |
