too far?
Steve Helstrips twitter:
Planning April's Podcast, sans tracks from Armada since they have banned the use of their tracks over 2m in podcasts. That includes my new track, Savanna, which I was going to play.

I wasn't referring to the topic subject but more to some comments. Don't think Armin personally has a lot to complain about. No.1 DJ at many polls and that while being such a bad person according to many. Would he be the greedy one or others behind or maybe even above him? |

it looks like another simple supply and demand strategy to me. only the ones at the top can get away with such a move though. i highly doubt this will reduce their amount of listeners, if anything it will increase it.
they're smart. over the years they've accumulated a strong fan base that religiously listens or downloads ASOT whenever it airs, now that they've got them by the balls they will squeeze even more out of them by going exclusive. that's like pulling out a succesful clothing line out of macys, bloomingdales, and the rest of the national department stores to open its own branded boutique.
if armada was a public company, i would buy its shares. :toothless |

So would I, I'd just feel like a douche about it.
On the sublabels part: I like Cyber. I feel bad for Johan though. I don't think they have anything else I'd miss. |

really?
I probably have about 1% of the busines accumen of the guys running Armada - but to me it just seems like a very isolating move. Yes they may be big in terms of trance but in terms of business are they really that big? If your not that big i cant see how isolating yourself is a good move in an industry where cross promoting dj's producers who are in business with a few labels/brands is common practice. It could become armada vs the world. Its a big world.
Unless armada's quality of output goes up by about 300% (which will be hard considering they have probably upset quite a few of their experienced producers who will most likely go elsewhere) - i think they'll be struggling imo.
and yer - cyber (and maybe 8ball to a lesser degree) is the only one ill miss - havent heard that much thats too crash hot from them for a while though. |
