Lira's intriguing case: The books that never came

There's something fishy going on in my local post office.
Since 2007, I've been buying books from Amazon, among other national and international bookshops — all on-line. Last December, I purchased some linguistics books and they never arrived. I sent Amazon an e-mail complaining, and they asked me to wait another month. I did. No books. So they sent them again.
Today was the estimated date of their arrival. But, much to my dismay, nothing got here. My mailbox is as empty as my soul.
Now, what could've happened!? A friend of mine says they may have been stolen in São Paulo or Rio, but who the hell steals a book, much less a bunch of books on a very specific topic in linguistics? If you can't think of a possibility (or a solution), let me pose two more interesting questions:
- What would Jesus do?
- And, more to the point, what would William Ashley do?

Blame the government conspiracy for persecuting him in his innocent search for knowledge. |

| Wouldn't he set anything on fire? I mean, if the government is persecuting him, he should fight back, right? |
