Childhood (pg. 2)

I find it hard to separate my idealization of childhood from the actual thing. But I had good parents, good friends, and no real tragedies, so I think it was fairly nice as childhoods go.

While my childhood wasn't horrible it wasn't wonderful either. I rather enjoy being older, knowing who I am and being comfortable with it, having the freedom and money. When you're young you're struggling to find your place in the world and fit in, etc.

I wasn't cool as a child, at all. There's some video of me as a child pretending to be a newscaster (!) and at some point I remember I was talking about the Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria. The only time I ever got into a fist fight (in my whole life) was over a dispute about whether or not Denmark was part of Scandinavia, and I hated any kind of music that wasn't electronic.

...

Come to think of it, I just used to date blondes back then, and I think that's the only difference from my current me :p

The details of my life are quite inconsequential...

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking - I highly suggest you try it.
