Yeah that's why I bought the 18 items you can see in the what did you just buy thread.
I'm still waiting on a reply back from Simon on a few questions, but I'm kind of confused as to what is the legal status of their music now. I'd love to spread the love of Platipus, though if they might come back, I'd want people to support them and help them financially in whatever way possible.
I've got all the artist albums, hardly any of the mixed albums :(, and a good portion of the singles. Though still have a load to go through.
my paychecks this summer are going to be going mostly to trying to buy up Platipus stuff. Before it gets too ing expensive.
And I just realized I dont have all the songs on mp3! Don't have Narcotik - 12 Miles. ing B-side.
This really, really, really sucks. ing . .
I haven't written in this thread before because I'm so pissed off / upset.
They had a lot of debts due to some problems with distributors going bankrupt in the last few years.
Hopefully Art of Trance and Union Jack aren't dead. Maybe they can release on, say, Seismic?
Meh. As for the piracy, I wouldn't go downloading everything now. I'd wait a little bit in case there is a chance we can still help out financially by buying stuff from Platipus.

I am definitely planning on waiting for any word on the status of things before I resort to piracy. Lews if you hear anything please keep us all updated! Definitely want to support them if possible. |

This is sad news indeed. In the sea of crap that is the current trance scene their 'come back' was very welcome.
I just hope the catalog will be available somewhere, some how. |

Juno has all of their mp3s for sale atm.
They have pretty much all of Platipus' catalog still there, so I'd get it while you can. |

Get a ing life...it's like you live and die by this label...please. You're reacting like it's the worst thing going on in the world right now.
So Platipus died. It's unfortunate, but life goes on. You're completely overreacting. |

Thats not overreacting at all. Platipus was one of the few labels (Pharmacy, J00F to name a couple) left actually making trance. It is a major loss to the genre.... |

its sad and a sign of the times. Its a loss for nostalgic reasons and sad for berry and co. who are greats of the genre - but for recent stuff - the releases have been few and far between. (really not much to speak of besides pylon pigs). But there are quite a few labels going around at the moment that more than make up for it.
Hopefully everyone involved all moves on and from the ashes a new tree will grow. |

platipus died years ago, Union Jack and Art Of trance released a few good tracks, thats it. They have to do more then that |

Received this auto-reply to an email I sent regarding any possibilities by which I can continue to order their material:
| quote: | | As of 9th March 2010, Platipus has ceased trading. |
I imagine this is as strong an indication as any that Platipus is more or less finished, or at the very least, on a very extended hiatus while they (hopefully) attempt to regroup.

While I'm with you in that there's been very little of their uptempo material that has resonated with me in recent years, their output in the chillout department has been utterly stellar, and appeared to be receiving a shot in the arm via a more consistent run with the 'Art of Chill' series, and the launching of the 'Big Freeze' series three years ago. It's these and similar releases that I will miss most from Platipus. |

Did you bother reading any of the thread or did you just see the title and respond?
And yes, their chill out work has been immense in the last few years, as well as the trance stuff that came out in the last year via Union Jack.
FSOL did some great Psy albums on Platipus too, under the AA name. I talked to them a little bit and they said they'll be continuing their Monstrous Psychedelic albums under a Monstrous Psychedelic label. Not sure if Platipus people will be involved at all. |

I would like to see more labels go the route of releasing only a good few tracks now and then, rather than releasing everything under the sun and hoping something strikes gold. Platipus was one of the few remaining labels left doing that. |

| As soon as I get some cash, I plan on heading to the local shop and digging for all the Platipus vinyl left there. r.i.p :( |
