ok then please set us straight and tell us the constructive things you are doing irl to help this country.

The platform through which you voice your opinion does not matter; it is still heard and you are still perpetuating the problem.

I own a business. I employ several people who's rent/mortgage depend on how serious I take making real world decisions.

Also, I have a question regarding your signature which seems to have been put there in an effort to point out the stupidity of it. Would you care to explain why you feel that particular comment is "outrageous"?

Edit: For reference, in case someone comes across this thread months or years down the road...

This is another problem that I have and it pertains to what I first posted in this thread. In an effort to perpetuate the bickering and make each side look bad, everybody is taking everything far too ing literally. I'm well aware that politicians should be good public speakers and be able to do a decent job of answering questions on the spot. Having said that, not every answer is going to be perfect nor is every answer going to come out the way it has been intended.

I know you've been in similar situations before, we all have. Job interviews are the primary example here. Did any of your employees stumble or oddly phrase an answer during the interview process?

Each side could go back and forth for an eternity doing this, because each party is equally as guilty. As long as you understand his general point then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that quote.

But, hey, feel free to keep on acting like a five year-old; it's bound to bring about some positive political change.

The hypocricy is unreal. Of course there is something wrong with saying that it takes a lot of hard work and preparation to create a system that will "control the people."

I know you're against the whole "party vs. party is stupid" thing, but seriously... look at how everyone in this thread (and others on similar topics) are either making excuses for, or giving the benefit of the doubt to these Democrat politicians for the stupid things they are saying. Is that same benefit of the doubt extended to anything stupid that comes out of a Republican politician's mouth, EVER? Not even close. I didn't hear a single Democrat say, when Palin said she could see Russia from her house, "Oh come on, you know what she means... she was speaking figuratively; she's not a seasoned public speaker, give her a break." That's my problem.... I don't think one side is smarter/dumber than the other.

But I'm willing to bet you any amount of money that he simply intended to say that it takes time to enact such a broad-reaching legislation. Having said that, in reference to your second paragraph I would be more than happy to defend a Republican had s/he said the same thing. The point the person was trying to make was obvious, there's just a slip at the end.

I'm not saying that it's right to constantly berate one side like the media does, but this forum is a little bit different. This forum exists primarily for the electronic music culture, which is a very liberal culture and, as a result, most members are going to have a liberal point of view. It just so happens that the party that shares most of that liberal point of view is the Democratic party. You're outnumbered here and always will be. I'm sure that there are other forums out there with a largely Republican user base and a few Democrats that are outnumbered.

I cannot, however, defend the obvious hypocrisy that you're referencing in the media. That's blatant, and I will be more than happy to agree with you in regards to that.

If you really feel that way, though, shouldn't you be interested in stopping it rather than perpetuating it?

Well, if that's true than you're really one of the few that equally extend the benefit of the doubt and I commend you for it.

I can't do anything to stop it... all I can do is try to point out the hypocricies, and when I do I get blasted even if what I'm saying is true. But I expect that. Oddly enough, I don't post in any Republican leaning forums (or any forums outside of TA for that matter); I never thought I'd talk about politics so much on an EDM based website. But it's fun... I enjoy a lot of the people here and the topics, even when it escalates and gets nasty. Some cool motherfuckers here keep it intesting ;)

I like how you "point out hypocricies" [sic] by repeating the same behaviour you think is wrong.

not the behavior, the reaction (or lack of) to the behavior by certain people. ;)
