Since Nou is always moaning about the brits (I think he has a mancrush on them to be honest) and I was bored watching tv last night, it got me thinking of how good some exports are of each country, so for whatever reasons, I thought it'd be fun for people to share the jewels of their areas and maybe just say why.

My list - UK

Fry & Laurie (Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie)

I guess the thing about these two old friends is flexibility. They can look good playing many parts and Hugh in particular is outstanding in House MD, playing a perfect american stereotyped accent without so much of a hint that he can be so typically british, as he was when he was on friends years ago. Stephen Fry has been in Bones i believe, and hosts a good funny quiz show here too in QI.

Angela Lansbury

Murder She Wrote. Nuff said. If only real police solved half as much as her, ******** might be in prison or something!

For the States

Dick Van Dyke. - awesome old man who plays a fool of himself often and just always makes me laugh with his roles.

Australia -

how many home & away and neighbours actors/actresses do I have to list before Stu admits his feelings for Kym Valentine? And for those who remember the previous AUTA Mod, Webmeister who doubled up as Toadie on Neighbours.

feel free to add to the list or just chastise me for liking dodgy murder-mystery dramas.

Angela Lansbury was quite the tart when she was young, too.

Canada -

Don Cherry

this guy is like the crazy delusional guy you'd meet on the street, or so his dress sense would tell you but he made staying up til the early hours watching Hockey Night In Canada over here on ESPN well worth it. Mad, mad guy, but Jay probably disagrees :p
Silky Johnson
I think we should just about how hot Lansbury was.

And I have to disagree. Laurie's American accent is so obviously forced. Esp with "er" sounds.

Makes sense, he speaks English without them all the time in real life :p

Well yeah. But that doesn't excuse it. :p :p

I had to Google to find out who that was :p

I was first astonished when I learned Hugh was a brit because I didn't hear an accent, but after knowing it now I pick up on all the other British qualities. I mean the brits are renowned for being class conscience, stuck up, even how he enunciates, the cane etc. It wouldn't surprise me if he had bad teeth. All of this is immaterial, he a good actor and it shouldn't matter if he is a brit or naught.

I don't like Angela Lansbury, or more accurately I don't like that detective character she plays. I vaguely remember seeing her in an old movie and being impressed with her.

So can we admire Sean Connery or are Scots not Brits?

Rio Funk

If you listened to these tunes and didn't chuckle at least once, nor did you bob your head to the beat, then you're a disgrace to humanity. Really, what's wrong with you? This is the ultimate party music!

Unlike those pretentious Bossa Nova Wanksters, Rio Funksters actually came up with something both original and entertaining. It's a riot to dance to, and it's often hilarious too: what's not to like? This is our apology to the world after failing to exterminate Paulo Coelho, Paulo Freire, and Argentina. We're truly sorry :(

Austria, yeah.
