An Asian girl came up to me a little over a week ago and with very broken English and a strong asian accent, she expressed that she couldn't get the notes down for the last 12 lectures because her English wasn't good. She then pleaded with me to give her mine.
So... I thought about it and realized that this chick is a retard. Our exams aren't cumulative, and as such, all the material she was asking me for was no longer relevant. With this in mind, I e-mailed her all of my notes because I am just such a nice, kind human being (lol).
Out of curiousity, I kept my eyes pealed for her in the next couple of classes, and sure enough, she wasn't there. Idiot. It's pretty shady to use your foreign-ness as a cop-out.
Some people capitalize on other peoples laziness and charge for their notes. A friend of mine has already raked in over $300!! I think I will start using this idea. |

Doing that isn't easy (obviously), but I think that anyone who practices at making effective notes to review will only benefit. It most likely needs a tiny bit of drawing ability. Visuals are better than pure paragraphs. |
My only problem with this is that in an attempt to be as thorough and complete as possible, I will often make my notes cryptic and only understandable by me. Going through all of them to make them legible for others would probably take more time and effort than it's worth (although arguably, it could be a good way to study.) |

I take notes just to force me to focus on the lecture. If I don't, my mind tends to drift off. Then after the lecture I just throw them away. |

That's so true too.
If you go to class and ing listen, you retain more than you think and you really don't even need to study for finals - just kind of review.
I'll probably call this girl on the weekend when I'm drunk and call her a dirty cheating paki |

Some classes require note taking from my experience.
Definitions, equations, rules, steps, methods... things that have specific parameters and aren't in a text for the course, need to be noted. Other classes don't necessarily need notes, but it helps you keep focused and can arguably help you retain the information.
Meh, different people learn differently. |
