Hey guys!
My girlfriend and I are going to Montreal May 29-31st. Any good advice on things to do/see? We are looking into the bus tour which you can jump on and off whenever you want. I without a doubt want to go partying at night. Recommendations for a Saturday night party and even a Sunday night one if any. We're staying at "Le Westin" and no clue whats around. Where is the party section in Montreal with all the bars and restaurants?
And I really hope the Canadians make it past the first round of the play-offs because I would LOVE to catch a game at the arena! I'm a huge Devils fan so it would be even better if they play them. :eyes:
Thanks in advance! |

Westin, the only one I know of is close the airport. Hopefully not for you if you wanna party.
During the day, if it's nice I'd suggest going to the old port, walk around, grab some lunch.. lots of good restos and tourist shopping around there. Or do some shopping on Mount-Royal street middown, lots of really cool indie shops and hippie cafes.
Night time partying, hit up St-Laurent street north of Sherbrooke. Bar hopping from lounge to bar to lounge is a lot of fun, there's so many cool little places on St-Laurent.. depending on your age I can make a few suggestions.
If you wanna sit down on a patio and have a few beers, go to St-Sulpice on St-Dennis street or Pub St-Elizabeth on St-Elizabeth street.
We have 2 after hours clubs, Stereo and Circus. Both are world class clubs, you might wanna wait to see who might be booked for the saturday night, I couldn't tell you which one to choose.
On sunday, you should definitely go to Piknic Electronik. It's an outdoor day party on St-Helen's Island, the island where the F1 race track is located. $10 to get in, you can bring your own beer (in cans), international underground DJs are booked every sunday all summer. Piknic is from 2pm-10pm.
Sunday night partying, hmmm.. I know club 1234 has a popular night on sundays. The afterhours are open too I believe. |

event listings kinda lacking these days, too incomplete. The TOTA one seems to be completed well up until end of May even.
Go to Globalsound.ca :p |

If you want an interesting bar.... check out Bily Kun
354, avenue du Mont-Royal Est
Main attraction is the ostrich heads on the wall.

It's usually pretty packed.
There is another place off the beaten path somewhere near the Plateau / Mile End district... use to be run by some woman that left Toronto by cab saw the building and setup shop there... Found it... its called Else's which is on 156 Roy E ... I hope my ex doesn't find out that I am telling people about her favourite spot in the city LOL
Two other pretty chill places... DISTILLERY and Barmacie Baldwin both packed... and usually have lines. |

Thanks for the info people. Keep it coming. I'm trying to make it to Picnik Electonik on the island. Sounds pretty cool and laid back. I'm more into lounges/clubs with good house music or even hip-hop. Most likely stopping by the W hotel just to see what the hype is all about in their lounge for little pre-gaming action. My girlfriend really wants to go to "SEVEN"? Also going to try and get the girlfriend to come to a strip-club out there for s and giggles. Do they serve liquor at strip-clubs? What's the usual cover fee for these places (lounges/clubs)? $10-25? Would they accept USD? Most likely stopping by Stero for after-hours if someone really good is there.
And I don't know if I should be posting this here but any info of where to locate some of that good stuff (green lettuce)would be great. :X I've read up else where to check some of the head-shops and they "might" help out, if not the skaters. Lot of people compare Montreal to Amsterdam. I've been to the Dam twice and I know it will not be anything like it but still going for a great time. Always heard great things about Mo'real! Hopefully I still remember some of my French I learned in high school... :whip: |

| Well I heard its pretty laid back over there with that stuff, so why not? I've read in a couple of forums about it and it seems like everyone hangs out in the parks doing that. I'm in no way going to be walking the streets puffing away. Nothing like a little spliff while in a different city. ;) |

Don't go to Seven, it's a club full of 18 year olds. Lousy music too, thats where all the tourists go to party, Crescent street.
Titty bars, definitely go to Kamasutra on St-Dominique street corner Prince-Arthur, one street east of St-Laurent. Very classy joint with beautiful girls. Cover is $10 or something, girls might or might not get in for free. Contact dances are $15/song. They do serve drinks, they're ing expensive anywhere you go.
As for weed, yeah you're right people smoke all over the place. Cops will usually just take it from you and put it out, not worth the paperwork. I don't smoke anymore so I can't help you there, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. |

I'm going to be there that exact weekend, Eu Pili.
Celebrating my birthday in Montreal, I've never been.
So thanks so much for all that posted their recommendations.
That Sunday afternoon party sounds fun...hopefully my friends are down with that.
I really wanna check out both Circus and Stereo, as I've heard so much about them.
Thanks again. |
