Staying busy and spending time with friends will help you from sitting around and dwelling on it.

Also, delete her from your facebook, your MSN, and anything else you have contact to her. You are only torturing yourself by bringing her photos up etc. all the time. On the same note, put away anything that is associated to her (clothes, pictures, anything).

Like everyone else said, a clean break with no contact is best when you're grieving, and distractions really help you from losing your mind.

You're in the grieving process. It's totally understandable. You should probably call in sick for work and stay home, away from outside contact, for as long as possible.

Sit alone, in a dark room, with no television. Don't bring any books. Just turn off your power and use candles for illumination. Using a magic marker, write everything you loved about her on the walls. Drop a hit of acid and think about what a horrible person you are and how you are incomplete without anyone to love you. Write the inferences you make about yourself on the ceiling.

Now, just sit there and meditate on how you'll be better, the next time you fall in love.

Listen to these songs. They are your life-blood. Make them a part of you.

Make sure there is plenty of alcohol and a telephone, nearby, in case it gets too heavy. Call her friends and ask them how she's doing. One of them may give you some insight to add to your ceiling.

It's going to be alright. It really will. Things will shape up, just fine, and when she wakes up, next to you, again, you will be a new man, completely unsure of himself and his decision making, and forever bound to her out of a profound sense of guilt.

So, before this thread derails any further I'd like to thank anyone who gave his piece of advice, really appreciated. Her message actually kind of helped, it was a real spit in my face but it put a real end to most of my thoughts. My ego wants to respond and correct some of those false accusations, but I realize it's pointless, with emotions running wild and that defense-mechanism of demonizing me and regretting those 2 years altogether, kicking in. I'll delete her for the time being, move on and hope to sit down with her, one day, and talk about this like adults.

Till then...

Thanks for the advice/support. The circumstances are a bit complicated, though. The last few months have been a long-distance relationship. I already have a hard time not obsessively following her on facebook (a device that definitely made breakups harder, mind you!). I don't want to imagine what'll happen when I'm returning in August. I don't think she'll ever contact me as she completely bocked me on all fronts. I'm the manipulative bastard who took her on an emotional rollercoaster too many times. I can't be with her, but not without her either. Argh..

Smart man :)

I also concur on the 'delete from FB' advice -- you won't regret it!

How do you guys cope with it?

I ended my first really serious (2+ years) relationship recently and I'm starting to crumble. I know I shouldn't, it would only lead to more pain and misery on both sides. I also know that some of it is pure selfishness, as I can't cope with losing somebody who used to admire and care for me, a mental safety-net if there ever was one. I'm also aware of hindsight-bias, choosing to remember the good things only etc. And yet, I can't help it. How do you guys keep strong until it naturally fades away?

I haven't read through the thread yet and this has probably already been suggested but have you considered writing a suicide emo poem and posting it in the COR?

have you considered that the age of consent is above 13?
