Jack Moss - Excession [Drum & Bass] (pg. 3)

Superb stuff. Did you switch to a new mixing program or something? This was smoooth. I had a few people interrupting me during the time I was listening to it, but I barely noticed any of the transitions.

As someone else said, this was a great reminder of the Good Looking Records stuff. It also reminded me a lot of Adam F's Colours album, which is a good thing. I really enjoy this kind of drum 'n' bass; it's the kind of stuff you can either relax or bop to depending on your mood. Nursing a massive hang over, this was perfect for me.

There were no changes of equipment or methology. I find with breakbeats in general that if you get them right they're easier to mix smoothly, if that makes sense. It's tougher to match them up, because you've got to match highs (which is a real bitch in jungle) but if you can get them matched you don't have to wrestle with the EQing and gain for a smooth transition.

And I could never get into Colours, personally. I've played it a few times and it's never clicked with me. Glad you enjoyed this one anyway. Where are you in your global voyage?

I agree; this kind of music tends not to induce bad clashes.

Wow, I can't believe you don't like The Tree Knows Everything. I think it's such an amazing track. It was actually written by Ben Watt though. I'm in Peru at the moment, climbed Machu Picchu two days ago.

I'm playing it now and honestly I think it's a pretty cheesy track.

I have a confession to make: I've never actually listened to your sets more than once. It's never been a question of quality, mind, but for some reason they end up in that neglected "will come back to someday" file-folder we all have for certain music.

Not so with this mix.

Now, perhaps it's simply a matter of this being a choice collection of fresh, classy d'n'b, rounded up such that I don't have to scour around myself for it. Since I've endlessly replayed my old CDs of the stuff, however, it's great to have another one handy.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the good response to this. I didn't think I'd get 30+ replies for a drum 'n bass mix.

I still tune into this mix regularly, it's got that addictive nature missing in a lot of modern-day EDM.

Hi Jack, WOW - this will definitely get you to the final of the World Cup. I don't know how you did it but thanks for doing it and even bigger thanks for sharing it. How I normally give feedback is to not say much but just shake my head in appreciation.......and I'm shaking my head at the moment.

Cheers.

Amazing mix man. Love the vibe and the melodies. Great for the gym, too, had me going really strong! Wish they still made music like this. Mixing was superb.
