iTunes is far from perfect, but at least it's much nicer than WinAmp. iTunes has a different philosophy behind it than most players I'd say. Once you get everything sorted there nicely it works really well. When using WinAmp I could never find my tunes as WinAmp was so limited back then, more suited to just playing random tunes you've acquired from random places. iTunes on the other hand is well suited to host your entire music library in a well organized and easy to use way.

Ah.. press "ALT+L". LOL. Amazing library in Winamp. Plus it alloys you to transfer tracks to so many different MP3 players.

I've started using XBMC (Xbox Media Center) for almost all my media play back needs. You can run it on Windows, Mac, Linux, Apple TV...

But if I just want to play random files, and don't want to bother with a playlist, I use VLC.

Why?

It works just fine on Macs.

Winamp on my windows machine, audacious (the winamp clone) on my linux machine. I don't even use playlists so that funcionality is immaterial to me. Winamp has the easiest playlist editor and it's super lightweight (same for audacious).
