cough lol cough

(cough-inducing side-note...) Dude... I went on the Amigos Canada Day cruise a few years ago (despite wanting to go on the Luke Fair one on the same day). When we were getting off the boat, some dude punched another dude and that dude crashed into me and I crashed into a steel beam. Afterwards a whole bunch of dudes chased another dude in the parking lot and totally pummelled him in the head. No more Amigos cruises for me ... :nervous:

Late departures and early arrivals irked me a lot last year too. And there are way too many... one weekend last year there were three cruises - I know people that went on all of them lol. Too much... too much.

I've only been able to experience two boat cruise seasons, (so I never got to experience them as being a "special event") but I definitely saw a difference between last year and the one before.

I actually really liked the Dirtycycle Night cruise last year... Toronto looks so beautiful from the lake at night.

Roaches and Junkies will be on a boat on my birthday so I'll be there. Victor Calderone on Canada Day sounds sha-weet, (and a good excuse for me to skip over-packed Guv the night prior). Other than that I don't plan on attending many unless the lineups are extra-special.

All the banning of important items and criminal searches keep me away. I put up with it at the guv, but to go through that on a boat is just too much of a nuisance.

Nothing personal against you or Activate, but maybe to help on your points, promoters and boat staff can get their together sooner, and start boarding the thing and ADVERTISING an hour sooner boarding time. Departure times stay the same.

I assure you, you are not the first person to think if that. we've done that. However the reality is that no matter what time boarding starts, 50 percent of the people attending still stroll up 5-10 minutes before departure. I've done 23 boat cruises in the last 7 years. It's always the same. We've also advertised a departure times 30 minute before the actual time. That worked, we got out on time, but a few people complained that we left 20 minutes late. However we had our full time on the water.

Unfortunately when 75-100-150 people stroll up 5 minutes before you're to leave dock, you can't exactly leave with out them. I wish it was that easy, but it would be a disaster if anyone were to actually do that and they would never hear the end of it.

I cant speak for other promoters, but with our events, we've only had to that left significantly late.

But i'm telling you.. if everyone did what i said early.. no one would ever leave more than a couple of minutes late.

maybe a megaphone/ air horn indicating time to move your butts from the parking lot to the boat? Most don't head to the line-up until the majority seem to move.

the boat cruises. I'll shell out $50 for 3 hours of entertainment if and when reports start pouring in that promoters and operators have cleaned up their act.

agreed.

basically, i have zero desire to hit up any boat cruises in TO this summer.

Advertising an earlier boarding is a great idea. Thing is, STICK to the times on the ticket and start boarding.

And leaving with people not on the boat.... If they're in the parking lot chillin' leave them behind. Seriously.

Does a concert that has a start time on the ticket wait to begin because there are 50 people that haven't made it into the venue yet? Does a plane wait at the airport because there are 50 people that haven't made it to the gate yet? There are times set out for a reason.

Why do we cater to the people who like to ruin the fun for others?

Someone needs to set the precedence, and once they do, promoters can follow suit....
