Started with the Lizard Lounge for me, then Empire, Boom Boom Room, Catch 22 and DJ Iain's Wednesdays at Limelight. Smart, fun crowds at all of these venues.

It's funny to hear people knock industrial, as a lot of what you listen to today wouldn't be around if it hadn't been for this very influential era. Even everyone's favourite mnmlst R. Hawtin is a big fan of dropping old EBM cuts into his sets.

I used to have that album, and spun it at a few parties!

:P This type of music was played by CHOM-FM in Montreal on a weekly shop with this stuff. I dated this alternative chick (today's equivalent of goth/emo) that I changed my wardrobe for to all-black, Dr. Marten's and eyeliner that introduced me to this stuff... and yeah, when I had hair, lol.

Catch-22 was fun. I think it was Club Maxx that had an industrial night in the basement? DJ booth behind a chain link fence?

I still have CDs kicking around from a few mentioned here...Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Ministry (won tickets and saw them at Varsity Arena back in '96...scary crowd, lol), etc.

1991:

industrial trivia: one member of Bigod 20 was Andreas Tomalla...aka Talla 2XLC

some Canadian content?

No but I got a popped-collar douchebag pic of me with my gf before the alternative/industrial chick. It was quite a transition, but I've always been a chameleon.

Yes Catch 22... Forgot that one...

What about Sanctuary????
