Actually, most SWAT officers are subject to rather rigorous psychological evaluation. That's not always the case, however, and there may even be some who manage to pass the screenings and still be unfit for duty. |

All police-officers around the world are trained like that, but it doesn't justify the fact that you're a half-witted moron that has been dreaming to shoot something from the day you joined the "Academy" and you finally get your chance when a poor dog barks at you. Perfect reason this, feeling threatened.
He should be fired on the spot.
But probably nothing will happen. That's the style and the commodity of a badge, this thing will just fade away and no one will give a in a week.
That is what sucks about the USA. All this unpunished police brutality. |

I agree - that might very well happen, but, from what I've noticed, if this YouTube made it here, it also has made it to some Right Wing forums we lurk at, and while many of those people can be hateful, pro-cop blow-hards, many of them also love their doggies and are also quite prone to firing off heated e-mails to the officials in charge of those cops.
We might be gun happy, here, but we also love our animals and not even a pro-cop fan-boy like AMW's John Walsh would ignore the fact that cruelty to animals has been linked to the Anti-Social Personality Disordered, many of whom turn out to be serial killers. |

| Most cops I know are absolute dog nuts, too. This is a really weird, inexcusable thing - I would not be surprised at all if the responsible officer's colleagues are giving him a lot of grief for this. Don't get me wrong, it deserves so much more, but this is just the irresponsible symptom of not keeping your dogs on a leash, so to speak. SWAT shouldn't have been there in the first place, obviously, but it's their job to neutralize - this was obviously an administrative error and should be dealt with as such. But it probably won't be. |
