Honestly, what is the point of this thread?

Those true nerds, that have forlorn their social lives and have played video games for the past 20+ years (like myself) know that the answer to this debate is as clear as the difference between night and day. Honestly, its not even a debate. After all, we have social etiquette that states it improper for me to point and laugh, generally ridicule someone that would be considered mentally challenged. It is the accepted norm of behavior. It is ridiculous to expect someone of this mental capacity to think and rationalize within the same context of a fully-developed mind.

We can list points, pros/cons of each, but the simple fact is that a control scheme that grants you the freedom of immersion, of altering your environment using inputs that are as instinctive and controllable as your own ability to walk and breathe is the clearly superior and ultimate form of gaming. The movements of the input devices are directly and strictly, in an analog fashion (despite its digital form of signal transmission) correlated to your onscreen avatar.

The only control schemes that will surpass the mouse+keyboard are in our near future, and gaining ground. These control schemes will eliminate the need for physical interaction, and will rely on our own thought processes to interpret signals and translate them to the virtual world. And guess what, due to the simple fact that all of these platforms are ultimately and undeniably first developed on a PC, they will inherently first appear on a PC for mass consumption.

I welcome your arguments...

I don't remember the Wiimote existing on PC first... But then, I'm a console junkie.

The market will dictate where we see the best and newest technology, and right now, all signs point to console... possibly portable even.

The Wiimote, along with other technologies from Sony (the motion sensing PS3 controller), and the soon to be released technology from Microsoft(albeit, this is in a different category) still rely on the same principle of manipulation and control input; the translation of your physical movements into a digitized form. Thus, as much as you may argue that it is different, at its core, the concept is the same. You are still using a hand-held tool to interact with your digital environment. On a strictly technical level, the wiimote is not nearly as precise as a mouse.

Microsoft is taking a step ahead in the sense that you no longer need to actually have a physical device attached to your person to interact with what is presented to you on-screen. Although this too is not really new.

The step which I was referring to is something like the link below. Granted it may be far off, and who knows if it will really take off, but from a strictly evolutionary perspective, this is the direction that I meant.

As I said, I welcome the arguments, if only to propagate the discussion.

Flight Simulator was never for a console, so it can't be used as an example. Tekken is better in the arcade. Sonic is console only unless u use an emulator. Bot fail.

I think it's sad and hilarious Sony & M$ are scrambling to catch up to the Wii with their bull motion controllers. No one plays the Wii really anymore these days as it is. PS3 owners are waiting for one good game at this point, and the 360 fanboys only want to play gay ass Halo which is coming, and CoD. Nobody wants those Wii wannabe controllers.

PC for gameplay and insane control...

Console for better experience in my opinion, and most casual gaming.

Lets face it...people care more about your MW2 score in Xbox Live rather than PC these days.

More user friendly IMO.
