FAO All Those Who Live In or Near/Around Burbank

I know some of you live up there. How do you like living there? How's the cost of living? Anything I should know of?

I live in OC right now but I'm considering a really good job in Burbank. I'm sure it will be a pain to drive from OC to there every day, so my options would be either, drive, take the Metrolink, or move there.

Any insight on Burbank?

Burbank is a really nice area. It's actually it's own city, separate from LA entirely. There's lots of good everyday shopping and it's less than 15 minutes into Hollywood. Traffic to/from the area during rush hour can get pretty nasty on occasion, but it's nothing compared to the West Side. The cost of living is probably a bit lower than most of OC, outside of gas prices. The 818 has cheaper gas than most of LA, though. It gets hot as hell during the summer :)

I live in the Valley as well and I love it.

if you're planning on living in burbank, be prepared to spend an assload in rent. i looked into it myself -- would love to live there, but i decided to stay in studio city.

I was born and raised in the valley. Other than the super convinent airport, I don't go to Burbank much. If Burbank is expensive, look into North Hollywood right next door. Glendale is nearby also, Glendale is a pretty clean city, however it is known to be the Armenian capital.

I'm sure if you do move to the valley, you will get many gigs in nearby Hollywood. Let us know if you end up making the switch. The commute can get annoying every day. How long does Metrolink take?

I call shenanigans on Burbank rent being higher than Studio City :)

Edit: I know some of the new apartment complexes in Downtown Burbank are uber-expensive. But a lot of the older buildings are reasonably priced. Most of Studio City is pricey.

contact Tom, the old spundae VIP manager back in the Circus days. He might have some hook ups.

Grew up and lived in Burbank for over 30 years now! Close to everything and away from the madness! Good luck in your hunt!

why yes i do :)

i love it here, lived here almost 6 years and you can find affordable living, if i can live here most others can.
as gil said, it's close to everything but away from the crazy, mad traffic and craziness. just up and over the hill and there is hollywood, less than 15-20 minutes to downtown, an adorable downtown with a quaint mall and lots of stores to browse through, great places to eat, super close to studio city/NoHo/Glendale/pasadena, all the studios are close by, nice parks, lovely views of the hills, lots to do, great neighborhoods with large, lazy trees to walk/run under, and tons more!!!

i live in an older apartment building but it's pretty large (i've had up to 30 people here for afterhours parties), hard woods, a pool, a balcony, i love it!!!!

come see and i'll give you a tour of burbank!!!! would love to have you so close jesse :)

DO IT, DO IT!!!

That's the keyword right there. The job is at Disney Studios. lol I know it may be far fetched, but I haven't applied yet because I wanted to know more about how it is living there before I even waste my time. There are several positions opened at Disney for exactly what I do. They have one that fits me perfect and since we're partners with Disney I may have an advantage.

I been looking around the net and it looks like it's a pretty cool place to live and work at. I am gonna apply tomorrow, but, even if I do get it, I won't be able to accept it or decline it til at least June and the pay better match or be higher than what I already make.

Either way, thanks guys and I'll keep on doing my research.

:)
