A long time ago there was....but it died

back when i used to go to school there i used to always go to the Roxx

and they have a secondary room (red room) which always played house/none top 40 music

i havent been back in many many moons, but the Roxx is a staple of barrie, so it should still be around....

The Roxx ing sucks now, and the side room doesn't do house nights anymore.

There actually is somewhat of a small scene...more drum and bass parties than anything else. But I went to a small jam, randomly, a couple months ago and Marty McFly was playing. I think it was his bday or something.

Anyhow, there is to do here, you just have to know who to talk to.

Otherwise it sucks. Don't expect much from the staple clubs. There's a new place called the Bank, but the music is only even remotely tolerable on one night. Can't remember if that's Friday or Saturday though.

edit: Actually, The Queens Sport Side has better music than anywhere else. Older commercial house, older top 40, and towards the end of the night you can expect mainstream dance music.

Someone was talking to me the other day about some possible bookings, saying one of the clubs (can't remember if it was the Roxx or not) was going to do some renovations and change the format to be more EDM. It obviously a ways away if anything, but sounds like there maybe a decision to go that route.

You sure they weren't talking about the renovations they did to the former TD Canada Trust building (which is now The Bank [heh])? Because that was the intent when they opened the club last year.

I don't know why they would renovate The Roxx again. It was only 2 or 3 years ago that they already revamped it.

LOL The Bank makes me laugh... that was were I signed up for my first bank account when I was like 5. Now I see all my old highschool friends partying there. So strange.

When I was 17/18 I thought I was the coolest kid using my fake ID to get into the Roxx... I returned a couple years ago and wanted to cry. And the Fox Lounge :conf: ... so ugly

The Foxx Lounge is great on band nights though.

Oh! I just remembered they renovated The Foundation, which is now The Mansion; however, they haven't changed their format - although I do remember hearing that they were going to when they did the renos. Some pretty sweet hip hop shows come through there.

Oh, another new "club" just opened up, too. Club Ash. Lots of reggae/hip hop/urban type stuff. And it has an oxygen bar.

Also, if you're into the hipster scene, Oscar's is pretty good.

The most happening place these days is Kensigntons. They have live music every weekend.

And of course, there's The Ranch if you're into country music. It's actually pretty fun though, if you're hard up for something to do - total sloshfest. :p
