hoping this isn't a repost, but this site is pretty great, and i know it'd go down well here, what with all the (logical) hipster hatin' :)

again, much of this smells like homophobia and also fear of femininity.

that said there is much lame-ness in the photos :p

It's sort of sad the 00's had no defining youth fashion subculture worth a damn. They just sort of grabbed bits of 60's hippie, 70's punk, 80's kitsch, 90's grunge and then mashed it all together, badly.

You suggesting that this style is what gay people/women wear is just as homophobic as if that really was the cause...

Hipster attire isn't gay/feminine, it's just ridiculous and idiotic, and a failed attempt to try and mash the fashions of previous generations, exactly as lilith said...

I don't associate hipsterism with femininity or homosexuality, i associate it with stupidity and hypocrisy...

nah, i think that in the case of several of the photos, the curator of the blog is reacting mostly to this, though. the titles and comments are especially revealing.

i lived on bedford avenue in williamsburg brooklyn. this is like center stage for many of these photos - i have a pretty good idea of what hipsters wear lol

the thing is, some gay fashion and some feminist fashion uses irony as a critical tool, and this overlaps with the bs irony of hipsterdom

Gay people tend to dress better anyway, it's only the really really REALLY faggy ones that dress horribly, but that's to be expected. Wait, what are we talking about again?
